Q: Does anyone know anything about or have experience with the 2006 Mazda 5?
We are seriously considering purchasing one and just wanted to know what others thought about it.
A: i like it. its really smooth on the road and good on gas. I dont own one but one of my good friends do. He just bought it and hes in love with it!
Q: Are the mazda mx-3 & mazda mx-5 built on the same chassis?
Are the mazda mx-3 & mazda mx-5 (miata) built on the same chassis? Are they basicaly the same car? Also is it me or do they have the same interior?
A: Not hardly, the Miata is RWD, the MX3 is FWD.
As for the interior, no to that too. While the front seats may interchange and the radio, that hardly makes them the same.
Q: How hard would it be to install a 5.0L Ford Engine into a 1997 Mazda 626?
I saw some really cool Mazda Miata’s with the 5.0 Mustang Engine in them and I was just thinking that since Mazda was built by Ford that the engine would work in my 626.
A: it takes a lot of work, check out the Monster Miata’s..

Q: What is happening with our Mazda Protege 5?
I must first start by saying how much HATE this car. M husband traded in a great Cavalier 6 months before it was paid off to buy this nightmare on wheels and we are STLL paying on it 5 years later! (He bought it before we were married)
It is now our only car. 56,000km (around 35,000 miles) after we bought the car and ONE MONTH out of warranty, the engine blew. It cost $3,500 to replace. Since then, every time we turn around, we are having to replace something. The headlamps burn out a month after we replace them, dash lights are going out, the car has suddenly begun to guzzle gas. Brakes squeal even when replaced by pros, etc. The belt SCREECHES, particularly at night.
Now, any time we go over 100 km per hour (60 mph) the car suddenly feels very sluggish, like a car that is trying to be driven in 2nd gear, and it gets VERY loud.
What could be causing this? Should I just drive this lemon off a cliff and cut out losses! (There are days when I really want to!)
I should also note that this car recieved regular maintenance when the engine blew. We get regular oil changes, replace spark plugs when necessary, keep up with the tires, etc.
The car is a lemon and in reading, I;ve discovered that MANY people have had similar problems with the car.
Mazda pretty much told us to get bent and an attorney says that we really don’t have a case as far as lemon laws go.
A: I haven’t heard anything bad about Proteges in particular and I know Mazdas are generally very good cars.
Where are you taking this car to be worked on? Maybe the mechanic isn’t doing a very good job. I would take it to two or three other places, have them check the car out and tell you what they think. An engine blowing after 35,000 miles is really strange, unless it had some manufacturing defect, was abused and not maintained, or was maintained improperly by some hack. Belts should not screech EVER and if they do then they’re not tensioned properly or they’re old or have fluids leaking onto them.
As for your specific engine issues, sounds like the timing belt needs to be changed, or possibly you have transmission issues. Like I said, you should take it to a few different places and try to figure out what’s up with it.
Q: Does anyone know how to change the backlight of the console on a 2003 Mazda Protege 5?
When I turn my headlights on the backlight on my console (you know air conditioning knobs and all that stuff) is orange, I would like it to be red. Help a guy out?
A: I think the orange comes from the screen rather than a bulb. Can’t be altered, and why would you – red is to indicated something serious!
Q: why did mazda name their cars after 3 5 and 6 but not 1,2,4?
Well, i just realized that there is a mazda 3 5 and 6 but not any other number. Why is this?
A: There is a Mazda 2 already in other markets. It will be coming to North America very shortly (along with Ford Festiva which is essentially the same vehicle under the skin).
Q: Where can I find information on my 2001 Mazda Miata MX-5?
I just bought a 2001 Miata MX-5. This is my first manual so I need major help! Main things I need to learn: At what RPM should I be shifting, what is the best way to come to a stop, etc..? Any website or personal insight would be greatly appreciated.
A: Go to google and type in club miata or miata club and you could find forums for your car and others who have the same car and can share experiences and such.
Q: what kind of battery do i need for a mazda protege 5?
can i use any battery? also my car jerks when im going up gears and then the “at” light comes on. can anyone help me find a solution for that?
A: No… go to Wal-mar or Sears or your favorite auto parts. They provide a booklet located where the batteries are. It will tell you which battery model do you need for your Mazda Protege 5..
Look for the year and model you will not go wrong.
Q: Any comments on the Mazda 5 van/wagon?
I have a mazda cx-7 (THere were NO Mazda 5’s anywhere new or old) and it gets horrible gas mileage and it takes premium gas. I still can’t find a Mazda 5 anywhere. Is it worth driving out of town for one? I really like the way my cx-7 drives, but i would really like the sliding doors of the mazda 5 and better gas mileage.
A: If your CX-7 requires premium fuel, that means you have one of the ’s’ models which has the 2.3L TURBO 4-cylinder. The average combined MPG is 21mpg if it’s FWD and 19 if it’s AWD…on Premium Fuel…the benefit is that the 2.3L Turbo 4-cylinder puts out 244hp, which makes it a fun drive when you can afford the fuel!
You do understand that the Mazda5 has the non-turbo version of the 2.3L engine that only makes 153hp. It’s adequate to move the MZ5, but won’t be nearly as snappy as the CX-7.
How much interior space do you actually need? Because the CX-7 has 99 cubic ft, the Mazda5 has 98 cubic feet and the Mazda3 s 5-door has 95 cubic feet of passenger volume- would a Mazda3 s 5-door work for you? It’s lighter than the CX-7 and Mazda5 by quite a bit, and it has a 2.5L 167hp engine that performs almost as well as the CX-7 Turbo in terms of acceleration and passing power. It also averages 25mpg overall on regular unleaded….I love mine!
Q: I live in Canada, and would really like to buy a Mazda 5 that seats seven. (the european model)?
Does anyone know if these vehicles are available in north america?
A: I just bought a mazda 5 in California about a month ago and unfortunately they dont have the 7 seater
they dont even have the automatic sliding doors aggghh
Q: What would be the possible causes for a 5-Speed Mazda Protege to slightly jerk when shifting gears?
The problem started about the same time the check engine light came on, and it seems to be getting worse.
I’ve heard a couple of suggestions like I need to change the spark plugs, or try use a gasoline treatment, etc…
I would really appreciate any suggestions, because I can’t really afford to take the car in to an automotive repair center.
I am about to reach 90,000 miles & have had my car for over 7 years.
The jerking feels like the car is coughing, and it mostly happens going into 1st gear but sometimes 2nd gear too.
I have never had the clutch replaced.
The problem seemed to also occur about the time I got my oil changed.
The place that did the work used this oil: 5W30 B; which I don’t believe I have ever used before.
And I swear they did not replace the oil filter too; like they were supposed to do.
Should I change my spark plus too?
A: Take the car to a shop and find out why the check engine light is on and have it fixed. The engine is trying to stall when you push the clutch in and the momentum of the car keeps it going when you release the clutch. You will end up replacing the clutch facings, which is a bigger repair bill than the one your facing.
Q: What is so good about the mazda 3 5 door hatch?

A: A great deal is very good about the Mazda3 5 door.

Q: How much did a Mazda Protege 5 cost back in 2002 or 2003?
Have just bought a used Protege – would like to know what new car price was (in Canada) back inj 2002 or 2003
A: What model?
They ranged from $13K-19K
Q: Leftover 2006 Mazda 5. What should I pay?
I am considering purchasing a leftover 2006 model year Mazda 5. It has been a manager demo since it arrived on the lot and has never been titled. It has a little less than a thousand miles on it. It has every option except leather interior including navigation, sirius radio, sunroof. The MSRP is a bit over $22,000.
My question is that because it is already a two year old vehicle with mileage that isn’t typical of a new car, What should I expect to pay for this car in it’s unique situation assuming I have no trade and am purchasing cash?
Thanks for the advice!
UPDATE: We went in with a check and ended up getting the vehicle for $17,600!!! woo hoo! Thanks for the advice
A: You say its the demo car… you know what that means, dont you?
It was NOT broken in properly. It was revved high, used for donut/coffee runs, and versus letting customers take out any car they want, THIS is the one that goes out. Hence the term “demo”.
One of two things happens on a test drive. The salesman hands over the keys, or he takes you out to show you what it can do and then its your turn. Hard braking (a HUGE no no), hard steering, foot to the floor accelleration. Then, after we tinker with all that drive nice as we would normally. If its a busy dealer, with the average drive being 40miles, that means 25 strangers have driven this car in the most important time of its life, each with different driving styles. Not to mention the dealer guys going for coffee in it.
Make sure it runs WELL. No weird noises. Make sure the brakes sound okay, no squealing or vibrations. If I was you and really fell in love with it, I’d also get the extended warranty.
This car should be pretty much the same price as any used Mazda 5 on the lot with a years worth of mileage. If you go in there and tell them you are aware what the demo car is used for (and dont let them tell you the boss drove it and no one else did, its not true) and that you would like to think the price of the car will be reduced accordingly, as it is possible its life has been shortened due to its hard beginning.
Good luck!
Q: What car should I get, and ‘07 Ford Fusion or an ‘07 Mazda 3 5-door?
I hate making these kind of decisions so I though I would get a little extra input. They both have about the same number of miles, insurance will be about the same, and I like them both a lot! I used to drive an ‘02 Sunfire but I needed something newer and more reliable because I’m a mom now. What do you guys think?
A: I wouldn’t buy an American made vehicle to save my sole! They are junk!!!!!!!!!!
