Q: Where can I get a cheap supercharger kit for Dodge Charger?
Where can I get a cheap supercharger kit for Dodge Charger that comes out of the hood, like Vin Diesel`s car in Fast and Furious 1?

A: 6-71 – 8-71 etc Blowers are not what you would call cheap blowers. You can find them at any of the online catalogs, Summitt, Jegs, but your going to pay full retail. If your looking for a deal i’d recommend you talk to a local speed shop, make sure it’s the right setup for you and also potential sellers looking to sell a blower 2nd hand (less money)

Good Luck.

Q: What is the song from the dodge charger mans last stand commercial?
The commercial dodge makes for their chargers (man’s last stand) is amazing. I like the orchestral theme in the end, anyone know which song it is?

A: the best place to find any song used in a TV commercial is at What Is That Song in their TV Commercials section http://www.whatisthatsong.net/commercials/commercials.html

Q: where can i find a deck lid for a 1973 dodge charger?
i need a deck lid for a 1973 dodge charger, and do any other years fit on the 73 model?
i need a deck/trunk lid for a 1973 dodge charger, also do any of the other years fit on the 1973 model?

A: The 1973 and 1974 models were nearly identical.

See the link below. It is a searchable database of most salvage yards in the U.S. I did a search and found about 9 of them at various prices. Good luck.

Cool car. I once owned one back in the late 70’s. Was the nicest car I ever owned. Mine was an SE Brouhm with a 440 Magnum.

Q: What year was the best for the Dodge Charger?
Im wanting to know what year was the best year and most common year that everyone loved the Dodge Charger in. Thanks

A: From the historical/collector standpoint, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is clearly the Charger standout. This car is one of two (the similar 1970 Plymouth Superbird was the other) undisguised Chrysler Corporation successful attempts to dominate NASCAR (stock car racing). This car is clearly identifiable by its long, pointed nose cone and the very tall wing at the back. With a production of 503, one of these rare cars easily brings 6 figures. Manual transmission cars and/or those equipped with the 426 Hemi engine are one of the ultimate Mopar cars from the classic muscle car era.

Q: where can I buy door handles for my Dodge Charger?
I have a 2007 Dodge Charger SE 3.5L and i want to change the door handles on it but cant seem to find a site online. they are currently chrome, and i want to get stock black ones or carbon fiber handles. I’ve been looking online a bit and i have only found chrome replacements.

A: You can buy Dodge Charger door handles from http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=Dodge%20Charger%20door%20handle&tag=new-deals-20&index=automotive&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325

Q: Getting a Dodge Charger with high mileage?
Ok so I found a really cool looking charger with amazing rims and body stuff done to it with custom grille and everything, and it is in my price range. The only problem is that it has VERY high mileage. Theres one with a 2.7L engine with 93,000 miles on it, and i found another one very similar but a 3.5L (which i heard is better) but with 150,000. I hear dodge engines are crap after a certain point, what should I do?

A: the 3.5 with the higher mileage is still a better deal than the 2.7 is with lower mileage, the 2.7 craps out after about 150 thousand miles of driving, the 3.5 holds up well beyond the 200 k mark,i wouldn’t buy either one though, you need one with lower mileage on it than either of those have, good luck.

Q: How do I remove headlights from 07′ Dodge Charger?
I’m installing some Oracle Halo lights on my Dodge Charger. The question is —How do I remove the whole light assembly–not the bulb but the whole light assembly. If you absolutely know, please give me the answer.

A: You have to remove the front end.(not that hard). I would check out youtube videos.

Q: how much does a 1970 dodge charger go for?
im looking around for a dodge charger, somewhere close to 1970. within maybe a 5 year range. how much should i expect to pay to get one that is fixed up and ready for the road? how much should i expect to pay to get one in need of some new parts?

A: you wont find one that’s road ready and that doesn’t need any repairs for less than 35-50 thousand that’s in really good shape,my neighbor owns one that he bought brand new back in late 1970 an its a hemi car,and he,s been offered more money for it than his house is worth,if you find any kind of a big block or a small block cars that is in good shape expect to pay around 30 k and up on buying it and that would be really cheap right now, good luck.

Q: Whatever happen to the dodge charger in the bullitt movie?
Just wondering what happpen to the black Dodge Charger? They say that the Mustang is in a barn and haven’t ran in years but what about the Charger????

A: It burned up

Q: What are the pros of buying a used 2007 Dodge charger r/t?
My dad is buying me a car and Im trying to convince him to get me a used dodge charger but he is concerned that the resale value is very low. So can anybody tell me some really good things about this car that i can tell my dad to get him to change his mind?

A: the charger is a nice choice for a used car but the resale value will be lower on it than it should be at this time, the prices of those is down a little bit over this time last year, the one thing he might be thinking about to on this car is the cost of the insurance on it for you,and the cost of maintenance, both are going to be kind of high,a for dependability their pretty good on that part, but they are high to insure,i doubt that anything we can say will probably change his mind, good luck with it,when i was young i asked for a new barracuda and got 65 mustang instead.

Q: Where can I buy a 1969 Dodge Charger?
I am in the UK and would like to buy a classic 1960 Dodge Charger, I would prefer one to restore but I don’t mind. I was just wondering if there was a classic american car importers in the UK, near London or Kent preferably.

A: here’s a good web site to find those on,and it can be shipped to you,but this place will have a few of them they actually have about any old classic car you could want to find, good luck with it,http://classiccar.com/

Q: Dodge Charger?
I may be buying a Dodge Charger in 10 years… will any still be around?.. Also, is there any that is painted like the Generael Lee?

A: There are hundreds of them painted like that.

Q: Dodge Charger?
Okay, would a 07 dodge charger r/t look good with 18 in chrome rims and the chameleon paint job?

A: The new Charger is gorgeous right off the show room floor. Putting 18’s and chameleon paint will make it even hotter!

Q: Dodge Charger?
Will a dodge charger with under 100k miles, year 2005-2007 be under 6000$ in 2-2.5 years?
Right now i found a 2006 with 32k miles on it in good good cond. and it was 11,000$

A: Maybe, but i think it may be a couple more years then 2 1/2 before you see those prices unless its in really poor shape.

Q: Dodge Charger?
Does anyone drive a Dodge Charger?
What year is it, what do you like about it and what don’t you like about it???

A: I assume youre talking about the new generation of Chargers..

they are amazing. They are based on the same platform (LX platform) as the Chrysler 300C (the most award-winning production car ever made). So yea they are good.

Make sure you get a R/T.

Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Jeep Wrangler?
I want to buy a Jeep Wrangler but I heard some scary ideas, like its not stable, its easy to break in to, and its mostly for show and not a very useful car. So whats the truth? Before I buy it, I want to know all its problems and advantages

A: Negs: They do get bad gas mileage, they are easy to break into if you have a soft top.
Pro: They are a blast to own, extremely versatile, you get to join a big “fraternity” of owners who will always wave at you or talk Jeep.

And lastly, they flat out rock!

Q: What size tires should i put on my jeep wrangler?
I have a 98 jeep wrangler and i wanna get a 2 inch lift on it, and i know when i get my lift its gonna look funny with the small tires i have on now.

But i dont know what size i can/should get…

Any sugestions?

A: When I first lifted my Jeep I had a 2″ lift and had 31 X 12.5 BFG Mud terrains. It worked out really well.

Just my .02!

Q: What is the best/only way to get bluetooth in a Jeep Wrangler, 08′?
I have an 2008 Jeep Wrangler and an Iphone. I want to be able to control it through the factory radio, and charge it if possible. What is the best way to do this? (I already have an aux cable)

A: Sounds like you are in the same boat as me. Since they did not install a factory harness with microphone in the Jeep Wranglers (due to road noise) we are stuck adding an aftermarket kit made by uConnect that you can get from the dealership. The kit has the same buttons that are already located on your radio. – Also the kit has its own speaker (does not use the factory).

I am trying to find out what harness kit from another jeep model will work in the Wrangler. When I get the correct part all I should have to do is plug it into the back of the radio and run the microphone to a good location. Buttons on the radio and factory speakers should work.

Hope this helps,

Steven C. (Odie)

Q: What are the largest wheels and tires I can put on a stock 2009 Jeep Wrangler?
I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. I would like to put new wheels and tires on it. I am looking for suggestions on wheels and the largest tires I could put on without any rubbing in the well. I’m not going to lift it for a long time because it will void parts of the warranty. Thanks.

A: any lift will void your warranty so i’d stay away from that for a while and dont go bigger than 31 x 10.5 tires. i would buy bfg k/m 2 they are supper sweet on and off road heres the link

http://discounttires.com/product_detail.php?c=OTlkODJjMmZlZjdkZjMyMWRlMWIwZjJlNTNlMTZjMWE=&prodID=6117

Q: what is the part called that holds down the back seat of a jeep wrangler?
I have a 1998 jeep wrangler but the back seat is broken. I need some kind of hinge or latch or something to add to my jeep to hold it down because the old one broke. But i do not know the name of the part to look it up to buy it. Please help!

A: I always call them seat latches.

Q: How do i put a lift on my 93 jeep wrangler?
I want to put around a 2-4 inch lift on my 1993 jeep wrangler has leaf springs what can i get to do it my self… or how would i do it?

A: Call full tilt in south lake tahoe they will set ya up correctly .Tell them chuck sent ya their email is:fulltilt4×4.com and their phone # is530-541-4437,They will tell ya how and sell ya the correct parts.

Q: What kind of Jeep Wrangler should I get?
I’m getting a Jeep Wrangler, but there are four different models. What is the difference between the Sport, the Sport S, the Sahara, and the Rubicon?

A: What model year are you looking at? A TJ (97-2006 I think) will be available with either a 4 cylinder or a 4.0 inline six, the “sport” usually denotes the 4.0. The Sahara has more options and is a little nicer and will only have the 4.0 I6, no 4 cyl. The rubicon comes with bigger tires, dana 44 axles, lockers and the 4.0, it is more for off-roading. If you are looking at a new one (JK) then the same differences apply except that the only engine available is a crappy V6, which is the reason I will never buy a JK. When they took away the 4.0 they ruined one of the last things that made a jeep a tough vehicle.

Q: What are the differences between an normal Jeep Wrangler and a Call Of Duty Black Ops Edition Jeep Wrangler?
I saw a commercial for the Call of duty black ops edition jeep wrangler, it looks pretty…plain? Some people say its not worth buying, that its more ethical to buy normal jeep. So whats the difference between the normal and the edition one? is it worth buying?

A: Okay, it’s available in two door or four door. It has a cool decal on the side and roof. Other than that, I don’t know if it is worth $10,000 more than the base model. Please, keep in mind, Wrangler’s are like a big Lego. You build one up to suit your personality. That’s what I recommend.

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
I’m looking into buying a Jeep Wrangler and was wondering if i could have some feedback from previous owners?

A: I love mine but I wouldn’t own it if I was going to use the back seat for people or kids (unless you get a new 2007 model.. which are a lot bigger). Mine is a second vehicle and it is a lot of fun. There is a lot of wind noise if you use the soft top on the highways. They are great in the snow and great for the summer with the top off…. however, you cannot get the softtop up very fast. You could do what I did and buy a regular vehicle and a used jeep for fun. I watched and found a pretty decent deal for a 1998. It has 125,000 miles but a good used one will last for two or three hundred thousand miles. They are east to replace body parts and things so if one has a busted body part you can get it cheaper and if you are handy at all you can change the body parts (fenders, bumpers, mirrors, etc.)

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
Im sixteen…and thinking of buying a jeep wrangler. I pretty much want to know anything about it. What will break, good points, bad points, the whole lot. How well does it tow, how rugged….if you know something then tell me. Also, please say if you own one, or if what you know comes second hand or whatever. Thanx
Probably second hand….less than 8 years old.

A: I own a 1997 Wrangler that now has 123,000 miles on it. I purchased it used in 1997 with about 9,000 miles on it. I bought it for my son who was a HS senior at the time. In 2002, at around 70K miles it went through a very extensive maintenance cycle. Shocks, long overdue were replaced, new all metal radiator to fix a leaking factory composite one, water pump, alternator, and a power steering pump were all replaced around that time. Not knocking Wranglers here, it was typical maintenance for most cars of that age. Its a fun car here in Florida. Beach, woods and the like. Goes most anywhere. Tows well behind my Dodge van with a telescoping tow bar. It has been from Fl to Wash. DC 4 times and back as my son went to college with it. Interstate travel is a nightmare with the noise and sloppy handling at 65 + mph.
Down side is the electrical system. Some times the instrument panel goes dead and then comes back after you hit the next bump. I’ve tried to get my hands on all of the “behind the dash connectors” but haven’t found the right one yet. Tail lights can short out and then begin working again all on their own from time to time. Corrosion or loose connectors are a problem.
The exhaust manifold has cracked and been welded as a cheaper fix, and I understand this, like the electrical problems are typical for this age and model. Also, the tranny squeels like a banshee in reverse on even a cool morning. In forward gears there is a less noticible whine but it is still there. I have had the auto trans flushed at 45K and again at 90K with conditioner added but the noise never goes away. And I’m not about to have the tranny pulled to find out what causes the noise. The engine runs strong still at 123K and the trans shifts as good as the day I brought it home. Oil is changed at 5k intervals. A/C is good but a little marginal in city driving on a 95* day. A fun car for the last ten years. With the short wheel base and high center of gravity you have to be conservative in your driving habits. I guess the defining thought on handling is that you need to understand why it comes from the factory with a roll cage.

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
Im interested in buying a Jeep Wrangler 2000 Model +…

What do u guys think of them?

A: YOU WILL LOVE IT I HAVE OWNED 3 AND I WILL NEVER OWN ANYTHING BUT A JEEP WRANGLER THEY ARE SO FUN IT HAVE A 1999 JEEP WRANGLER TJ SPORT. JEEPS CAN GO ANYWHERE AND YOU CAN TAKE THE TOP OFF AND THE DOORS OFF AND THEY GET PRETTY GOOD GAS MILLAGE. I AMA GIRL CHIC WHAT EVER YOU CALL ME. A JEEP WRANGLER HOLDS IT VALUE AND IT’S A JEEP THING YOU WOULDNT UNDERSTAND. BUT WHEN YOUR A JEEP WRANGLER DRIVER DON’T FORGET TO WAVE TO OTHERS. YOU SHOULD SEE FOR YOURSELF. I WOULD GO FOR HARD AND SOFT TOP.

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
am i the only one that hates the way the 2007 jeep wrangler looks with 4 doors? i like the old fashioned 2 door

A: Get over it! They’re here, and they’re the Hottest thing going!!!

I’m waiting till the model change, but I’m gettin’ one!!

Q: jeep wrangler?
what kind of gas mileage does a jeep wrangler get? its a 97 2.5 liter 4 cyl. 4WD

A: 15mpg

Q: Jeep Wrangler?
I want to buy a jeep wrangler but was wondering what was the best type to get and what year. I am trying to stay under 5 grand but will go up if I need to. I also want to get a 4 inch suspension lift and was wondering what type to get and about how much it would cost after instalation

A: I have a 1994 wrangler. It has a 4 inch lift and 33 inch tires. I paid 6 grand for it 5 years ago, and are getting offers all the time to by it. You are looking at around 600$ for the suspension lift. I would shop on the Internet. You can find one there that has all the stuff you want on your jeep. That’s how I found mine.

Q: Jeep Wrangler??
I want to buy a 1995 Jeep Wrangler with automatic trans and 180,00 miles.
the asking price is 3700 right now.
I am worried about the mileage, do you think it would be worth it to buy the car and rebuild the engine or get a new engine??

A: depends on engine type the 4.0 is a great engine and will most likely last for a while w out rebuild if it has been cared for. expect poor fuel milage though even when new these straight 6 engines were gas hogs but give lots of power. i have one and i like it even with fuel cost. the problem comes in that wranglers are often abused by people because they are one of the best off road trucks made. the straight six is bullit proof though and will go 300,000 miles with the right driver. mine has 100,000 and still going like new no maint at all.

Are you looking for Find a great deal on a BMW 3-Series Check out your top automotive resource SpeedLux.com

Q: How much would insurance be on a 16 year old boy teenager for a 1994 BMW 3-series with four doors?
Like the title says……..how much would insurance be on a 1994 BMW with four doors??? The teenage boy has a clean driving record and lives in a small town. Someone please help?

A: Help yourself – you can check your quotes in internet, for example here – car-insurance.22web.net

Q: Which is better the BMW 3 series coupe or the Mercedes C300?
I have recently test drove both and concluded that the BMW has a little bit more speed to it but thats the only factor that I can identify that separates the two vehicles. Does anyone know which is better in style, safety, performance, and any other categories?

A: BMW

Q: How much maintenance and repairs do BMW 3-series cars require?
I’m seriously considering a 328i because it meets almost everything that I need in a car. Unfortunately, I’ve heard from a few people that it requires frequent maintenance and also costs a lot to get simple things replaced. I just want to know the validity of these claims.

I’m pretty sure that there’s not much to them since other people have told me the opposite. But I just feel the need to ask here.

Thanks!

A: parts in bmw’s usually have a lifetime of 5 years. most are made of cheap plastic to save on cost.

if you like DIY’s Bimmers are the best cars to have. if you don’t like doing the maintenance yourself, it can get really pricey.

i put in $16k into my ‘96 328i before i sold it for $7k. then bought a ‘91 850i and put in $30k more into it. mostly labor on both cars.

Q: How expensive is it to own a BMW 3 series?
How expensive is the maintanance and repairs? Also, can’t you just service it and do repairs at a really good mechanic or garage, instead of the dealership?

A: I don’t have a 3 series but I have an x5 the 4.4 version and it is not anymore maintaining wise than any other car. And most definitely you can bring the car to a shop you trust instead of the dealer. The dealer is the most EXPENSIVE place to go.

just to give you an example I had a head light out went to the dealer and it cost me 47 dollars….. when I told my bf he wanted to choke me and said he could have done it for me at maybe 15 dollars, the cost of the bulb!

Q: how to use a steptronic in a 1997 bmw 3 series?
there are 3 modes ; s, e and m

s stands for sport and m for manual right? so does e stand for economical?

how would i use the m? the gearbox allignment is

park
reverse
neutral
drive
3
2
1

there arent any levers or anything behind the steering wheel.

A: Steptronic?? i didn’t think they used steptronic boxes on the 1997 E36 models……..

Yes, you are right, S is sport which means you car will stay in gear until it reaches the higher REV range.
E is economy, the car will change gear lower down in the REV range.
The 3-2-1 if for when you are going up steep hills and the car is constantly changing up and down. Depending on your speed, you would select a certain gear, 1 for when you are at low speed and 3 for when you are at high speed. It basically holds the car in the same gear.

Now M on steptronic box should mean ‘Manuel’, so there should be a section next to ‘park, reverse, neutral…..’ where the gear stick will slot into, once in there, the car will shift up and down by the direction in which you push it in. hence the ‘Manuel’

But as i mentioned above, i didn’t know E36 models have steptronic boxes in them, that was more E46 technology.

Q: Is BMW 3 series a good first car?
I’m looking around on the 3 series and I would like to know what are your opinions of having a BMW as a first car? I already have drove a friend’s 2000 BMW 328i and liked it.

A: Yes they are excellent cars! I am an owner of a 2005 BMW 325i sedan. They give you luxury and comfort compared to any other car. Its good for a first car as long as you have a Job or parents who are able to maintain the Hefty maintenance cost and other things. The car its self is excellent but i would recommend going with a 2002-2005 model. The 1999-2001 BMW 320i,325i,328i,330i sedan are different in styles compared to those in the 2002-2005 BMW’s. The headlights in the 2002-2005 BMW 3 series got a face lift. The Tail lights as well. The 1999-2001 models look a bit old in style. Here are some differences.

http://images02.olx.com/ui/1/50/02/8644802_1.jpg

Q: I Drive a bmw 3 Series 2002 Why does a 40F % come on below the gauges?
Every time i turn my engine on the lcd below the gauges displays a message of 40F % what does this mean?

A: Most likely a computer glitch. There is no error code for 40F %. Take the car to the dealer and reset the computer or DIY.
>>>Insert key, Turn to ACC. Disconnect positive terminal from battery. Quickly reconnect and disconnect terminal. Turn key off and on 3 times but end in last position before start. Reconnect battery.<<<
That should reset the computer

Q: How much would it cost to upholster a 1996 BMW 3 series?
I was wondering how much it would cost to change the upholstery like the carpet and the headliner and the doors, I would do the seats much later… or if there are kits for that maybe I could have someone do. I don’t know if color matters in terms of price but it’s going to be black. Thanks.

A: I had my headliner in my ‘96 318ti done for about $150, it came out like new, no kidding. Guy did a great job with material that was exactly like the original. Made the car look almost new again inside, Im so happy with the work. The sunroof part I just cleaned with some special cleaner carefully and it looks great.

The carpet may be more as it may have to be the exact molded type and you have to remove a lot like seats, center consoles, etc. That may run up a bit. Why do you want to change the carpet? Torn excessively? Really worn out?

If its just dirty have it fully detailed and shampoo’d at a pro detail place. May take about a day but much better than just replacing which could be expensive and unnecessary.

Also, I advise not to go black in the headliner, I know thats what the tuners/ricers do but it will make you interior darker, maybe too dark.

There is a reason its that lighter grey, thats just not boring interior color, has to do with making your interior better for visibility in some way. There’s some thought into a lot of the details in BMWs.

Q: How many miles can you expect a BMW 3 series sedan to last?
Will it go 200k?
I was planning to buy a new car long ago, but times are difficult so I gotta hold on to this puppy for a while

A: It can easily go over 200,000 miles, however it will simply start getting expensive to do so. There will be some major repairs involved. Want to save some money, trade it in for a Honda, Subaru, Toyota, etc.

Q: Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a 1997 BMW 3-series with all wheel drive?
I know that the term xi indicates all wheel drive but ive only seen it on the older (1990) cars and the new ones but i need to find out if the 97 3-series can come with all wheel drive too..

A: No there was not. I know there wasn’t… but if you want proof go to www.kbb.com (kelly blue book) and try and price one out. There isn’t an option on their for the x.

Q: What is the differance between bmw 3 series models 325,328,300 and 335?
What is the differance in terms of engine size and handling/comfort features?

A: The 325/328/330 E90/E92 (E90 is the current sedan and E92 is the current coupe) all use variations of the N52 engine. From what I remember, the 325 has a single stage intake manifold, while the 330 has a three stage intake manifold. The 328 has a two stage intake manifold and has the same N52 engine as an X3. In addition to differences in intakes, they also have a few different components and hardware. There have actually been quite a few changes from the first N52 production model till now–and I really don’t know all of these.

The difference between the 335 and the 325, 328, and 330 is mainly the engine. Instead of the N52, the 335 has the N54 which is a completely separate engine. It is NOT the N52 with biturbo. Of course the 335i has a more powerful engine and is faster than the E90/E92 variants with the N52 engine. However, both engines are 3.0 Liter Inline-6’s. I believe the N52 has an aluminum block while the N54 has a magnesium block.

All the cars in terms of handling and comfort are the same. The only difference is whether you select Sport Package as one of your options. If you do, you get sport springs which lower your car by an inch or so. The ride is pretty stiff because of the standard Run Flat Tires that come with the car. If your looking for options (I’m guessing thats what you mean by features), the majority of options available for the 335i are available for the rest of the 3 series line. There are a few differences between the 325i/330i and 328i/335i in terms of cosmetics, as the 325i/330i is the older line.

Q: When will a BMW 3-Series with an automatic convertible hardtop become available?
Volvo, Pontiac, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, together with other European car manufacturers already build some models with automatic convertible hardtops. These models automatically separate the metal hardtop and rear window into three or four sections and then stow these sections on top of each other into the trunk. The entire mechanism is controlled by electrical motors in the system.

A: I KNOW, I was hoping for the same thing!

The best you can do is to put it your two cents to BMW. Do what you can to convince their product managers that there is a need for this feature in the 3-Series.

Actually, I’m thinking about getting the Nissan 350Z convertible instead. No, they don’t have a hardcover, but it’s better than the 3-Series and it’s about the same price.

Q: How to hook my cellphone up to my 2000 BMW 3 series car?
I have a BMW that says it is cellphone ready and it has the phone Icon on my steering wheel but since its an older car It doesnt have blu tooth so how do I hook my phone up to the car???

A: Your car is PREWIRED for the BMW bluetooth module. But it does NOT have the module. So the button is just a button… nothing else.

Trying to buy and install the module is going to be prohibitively expensive and does not make sense.

You have 3 other choices (in order of price and complexity):

1. Use a bluetooth headset or bluetooth clip-on speaker (max $70)
2. Use a portable GPS unit with a bluetooth speakerphone feature (about $250)
3. Change out your sound system to an aftermarket unit which has bluetooth functionality (look at them from www.crutchfield.com)

Good luck

Q: Does the E36 bmw 3 series come stock with a limited slip differential?
Which trim levels came with an lsd?

A: The M3 has one as stock (as do some early 328i Sports), they were an optional extra on all other E36s until the introduction of ASC+T in 1996.

Q: I have a BMW 3 series and there is a little round green switch just behind to the indicator? Any ideas?
There is a little round green switch just behind the indicator and I don’t know what it is for. There is also a green switch next to the manual gear stick also.

I have looked everywhere in the owners handbook but there is nothing, any ideas to what they are for? Thanx.

Also it is not “aftermarket” and its not just supposed to light up at night, all I know is that the traction control button is also green.

A: Could be a release point to remove the bulb of the indicator.

Q: What’s the name of the song in the Ford Edge commercial?
It’s the commercial where these group of young people are driving through New York in a Ford Edge, some of them go into a restaurant to get some food, and there’s one girl that stays behind, and she looks at the stars through the Edge’s moonroof.

http://www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/edge/

A: the name of the song is the funeral by band of horses i just downloaded it awsome song i was looking for a month lol

Q: What is the name of the song from the Ford Edge commercial where the girl stares through the sunroof?

A: Its called “the Funeral” by Band of Horses

Q: who is the girl singer that sings for the ford edge commercial?
She sings’oh’oh ohhhhh.. I love her voice. Who is she?

A: shayna zaid and the catch.

Q: Does anyone know if the Ford Edge be available in Australia?
The Ford Edge CUV is wildly popular in the US.
www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/edge

A: It will be, but not atm. Check back in 6 months or so. I think Ford believes Australias market is just toooo small to get a make a decent profit.

Q: How many cylinders does a ‘04 ford ranger edge have?
Ford Ranger 2WD Edge Deluxe Supercab

A: Incorrect, Darrin. Whoever gave you the thumb up is wrong, too. The Edge supercab models only come with either the 3.0L OHV or the 4.0 OHC V6. The standard cab Edge models ONLY have the 3.0L. Four cylinder engines only come in the base model Ranger up to the XLT model.

Q: Should I buy a Ford Edge or Hyundai Santa Fe?
I’m thinking about buying and I would only look at used. I do not want a brand new vehicle. Which vehicle will I have the least issues with? Better on gas? More reliable? Safer for my 9 month old daughter? Etc. I might even consider the Toyota Rav… I’d look at the newer model Honda CRV’s but they’re a little out of my price range.

A: the Hyundai is a better vehicle

the ford has poor – braking, agility, visibility, fit and finish, fuel economy.

2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited V6
ConsumerReports Overview

Highs: Ride, quietness, transmission, fit and finish, controls, optional third-row seat.
Lows: Head room for tall drivers.
The Santa Fe is pleasant and has a small, optional third-row seat. The standard 2.7-liter V6 does an acceptable job, but the optional 3.3-liter V6 is more powerful and refined. The five-speed automatic is slick and responsive. Electronic stability control and curtain air bags are standard. The Santa Fe is roomy and quiet with fairly quick steering response, making it more agile than the last model. We found the ride compliant and well controlled. The seats are comfortable, but head room is a bit tight for tall drivers. The interior is very well finished.

Bottom Line Price Range: $19,444 – $27,084

Q: Im 15 about to be 16 and my dad is getting me the ford edge?
what do you think about this suv? i dont have to pay for anything except a little gas money. but how is this car?

A: You are SO lucky.
Do you think you could get him to spring for a Limited model?

http://www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/edge/features/

265 HP, V6 engine
EPA est. mpg: 17 city/24 highway (front-wheel drive) EPA est. mpg: 15 city/22 highway (all-wheel drive).

You will be happy with this car, it will treat you with years of loyal service so long as, with any car, you keep up the maintenance.

Q: What is the fair market wholesale value of a 2007 ford edge.?
I am triing to early terminate a lease.
it is an SEL, leather, vista roof, heated seats and mirrors, cd changer, 18″ chrome rims, parking sensors, front wheel drive only, memory seats, multi station climate control.
What is fair market wholesale value.
the car has 5500 miles on it

A: Click onto Kelly Blue Book.

Q: i own a 2008 ford edge when i start it after it has been sitting sounds like a lion when i start it?
does anybody have this problem or is this normal

A: Need to take it back to the dealer, you could have major damage coming

Q: How well is the gas mileage on a Ford Edge?
I’d like to know from someone who own a Ford Edge… also Is It worth buying all together?

A: My best friend has a 2010 Ford Edge. He now has 17,000 miles on it with no trouble, he told me he got 17-18 mpg traveling at a steady 70 to 75 miles per hour speed. He considered that good mileage considering he was on an interstate driving high speed. Do make the effort to bend down and look far underneath the car at the frame, axil, and where the wheels connect. Many fords to this day still rust under there much too quickly. They will tell you this is normal. But it is because Ford uses little undercoating, and what they use is cheaply done. My new 2010 Ford Focus has lots of rust under there–they told me it was normal. But my old Toyota, which was 11 years old…had 0 rust…even after 11 years.

Q: I am thinking about towing a 3000 lb travel trailer with my 2008 Ford Edge will be possible and safe ?
3.5 Lt. engine in Edge has tow package from Ford

A: You’ll be fine because the Edge’s maximum towing capacity is 3500 pounds plus you already have the towing package from Ford..

Q: How much will it cost to get my license plates in the state of Colorado for a 2009 Ford Edge?

A: Registering Your Vehicle

Required Documents for Registration
Proof of Insurance is Required
County Motor Vehicle Offices
In Colorado, the counties administer motor vehicle registration fees. Please visit your county’s website or contact your county DMV office for more details.

Q: Where can I find an inexpensive 2007 Ford Edge with low miles?
By inexpensive I mean under about $18,000. I’ve already checked Cars.com.

A: Look for a wrecked one. Of course its not going to be the same as a non wrecked one but it will be cheaper.

Q: how do you tell if traction control is on or off ? ford edge?
there is a button to turn traction control on/off. i push it and a traction control symbol lights up on the gages in orange. does this mean that the traction control is off or on?

A: when the symbol is lit the traction control is on, when the symbol is off so is the traction control

Q: which is more reliable: ford ranger edge vs chevy s10 zr2?
i just wanna know major problems between ford ranger edge vs chevy s10 zr2? both have 4WD. which one is more reliable? which one gets better fuel economy? stuff like that.

A: I can’t say about the s10. My 2000 ranger 4×4 gets 15-20 mpg and has had zero problems in 99,000 miles.

Q: Is a Mazda3 considered a decent car for college?
I’m looking at the 2010 and up Mazda3 iSport models Are these good, reliable cars for a starting car? Currently I drive an ‘01 Protege, but after High school I plan on buying a Mazda3, probably not 2010 by the time I graduate, but more like 2012 Mazda3.

A: Sure. The Mazda3 is a good car and very reliable.

Q: How to display the temperature on a mazda3 stereo?
I have a 2004 mazda3, and I have seen on other mazda3 that the stereo shows the temperature!, but mine not. It should display it, shouldnt it?

A: The outside temp is displayed in place of the inside temp. There is a button that says “AMB” for ambient temperature. Push this button and the outside temp will pop up where the inside temp is usually listed on the radio screen. If you do not ahve this button you do not ahve teh feature.

Q: What is the difference between the Mazda3 hatchback years 2007 2008 and 2009?
I want to know what the major body and engine differences are between these three years. And if you know a good site to see lots of pictures of the Mazda3 5-door through the years.

A: Try edmunds.com. You can select previous model years but I don’t now how far back.

Q: How much would it cost to repaint a 2005 Mazda3?
I just bought a used 2005 Mazda3 for a really good price, but I don’t like the color. I want to paint it black with the same kind of gloss as the current paint job. How much would this cost, generally?

A: You should research your types of paints. There is base coat/clear coat (which is the most expensive), then there is acrylic enamel, and urethane. Check out paint prices online for a gallon and then call around to shops to see if you can bring your own paint. If not, depending on the type of medium used, you are looking at between $300 up to $750. Good luck shopping!!!

Q: What does a variable tumble solenoid valve do on a Mazda3?
I have a 2006 Mazda3 & the dealer says that the variable tumble solenoid valve is out. What does that part do?

A: Basically, that shortens the duration of the intake valve, increasing the speed of the charge, which causes better mixing. This increases mixing, reducing pollutants and somewhat increasing the low-end torque. It is explained clearly with diagrams here:

http://www.mazda6tech.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=0

Fairly interesting, some of the other technology is also there.

Q: How can the check engine light codes on a 2004 Mazda3?
Yes I can use an OBDII scanner, but that’s not what I mean. Other cars can check their engine codes by counting the number of blinks of the check engine light after a specific key on/off cycle.
Can Mazdas do this? More specifically the Mazda3?

A: i know what you are talking about, in protege you have to plug the ten pin with the second pin and turn the key

engine light with start blinking, but i dont know if this works for new mazda 3 i guess it dont work because engine in bigger than protege and ecu is also different

Q: Where do I start by upgrading my sound system in my 2007 Mazda3?
I just bought a Mazda3 2007 and I want a better sound system but I have no idea where to start. Help?

A: get after-market radio or Head unit, always first step. than Looking for a 4 channel class A amplifier, after you got the amplifier, than get the speakers changed. or you can get a class D amplifier and put some subwoofers in the trunk. I always change my radio fist no matter what car I get first, than put some subs in the trunk. If the speakers works good, I’ll leave the way it is, if the speakers blown I just change all 4 of them to match up the sound quality.

Q: Is there a difference between the Mazda3 and the Mazdaspeed3 besides the turbo?
As in, if I were to put an MS3 turbocharger in a Mazda3, would it be the exact same thing?

A: Why would you even do that? It wouuld cost a lot more money to put a working turbo into a regular mazda3 than just buying a ms3 in the first place. just look at it this way. the regular mazda3 was designed as a fun grocery getter. the ms3 is designed to be a pocket rocket.

the ms3 also has different suspension settings, bigger wheels, different interior, and subtle exterior differences such as bumpers, grilles, spoilers, etc.

so no, it would not be the exact same thing

Q: Can mazda3 17 inch alloy wheels fit on a mazda6?
I am trying to buy 2006 mazda3 17 inch wheels and put them on my 2003 mazda6, but i am not sure if i can do that with out harming my car.

The mazda3 17 inch wheels i am getting:

17×6-1/2, 5 lug, 114mm Indented spoke ends
5×114

The mazda6 17 inch alloy wheel specifications:

17 x 7, with 5 lug on 114 mm Indented spoke ends
5×114.

I can see that all the numbers match except for 17X7 (for mazda6) and 17X6.5 (for mazda 3).

Does this mean i cannot put mazda 3 17 inch wheels on my mazda6?

By the way my mazda6 right now has the steel wheels with hub caps and they are either 15 inch or 16 inch wheels.

Since i am going higher on the rim size a bit, does it hurt my suspensions?

Thanks,

Sandeep.
I AM SORRY, RIGHT NOW I HAVE 16 INCH WHEELS ON MY CAR AND I AM TRYING TO PUT THE 17 INCH WITH P205/50R17 TIRES. rIGHT NOW I HAVE P205/60R16.

LOOKS LIKE MY TIRE WILL BE A BIT BIG BUT LOW PROFILE, IS THIS GOOD FOR MY CAR.

A: The wheels will fit, the P205/50R17 88V Mazda 3 tires are not a good idea however. They are too small in diameter and have a much lower load carrying capacity than the P215/50R17 93V tires a Mazda 6 should have.

Q: How can I buy a new car(Mazda3) cheeper?
I’m thinking buying a Mazda3.This is my first time buying a new car, so please give me some tips to buy car cheeper.

A: Negotiate a good deal.

Here are some tips:

1. Get the invoice price for the vehicle. You’re goal should be 2-3% above invoice (min $200-$300)

2. Go the last Saturday of the month. Salespeople are hungry to meet their quaotas and they’ll do anything for a deal.

3. The best time to buya new car is in the 4th quarter of the year.

4. If price is a big concern, buy a demo model or a 1-2 year old pre-owned

Q: What are the differences in Mazda3 car trims?
I’m looking to purchase a Mazda3 5-door hatchback, and am curious as to what the differences are in trims. (If trim is the correct terminology.) Currently for the 2008 models, there’s an s Sport, an s Touring, and an s Grand Touring. Are the only differences the amount of various ammenities, ie. halogen lights, etc?

A: Ok they all come with standard equipment. The Mazda 3 S Sport adds 17″ alloys, rear liftgate spoiler, side sill extensions, rear wiper, and removable rigid cargo cover and cargo management system.

The 3 S Touring adds:
Traction and Dynamic stability control. Thats it.

The 3 S Grand Touring adds:
Rain sensing windshield wipers, automatic headlights, Xenon headlights, LED taillights, Automatic climate control, Leather seats, Heated seats, and a Trip computer.

Q: Do the new 2010 mazda3’s have as good of a resale value as the honda civic?
I think civic has best resale value period, but is mazda3 close?

A: I got the resale values for the basic models of the Mazda 3 and Honda Civic:

2009 Mazda MAZDA3 4-door i Sport Sedan:

Year Retained MSRP % Resale Value
New 100% $14,690.00
2 62% $9,107.80
3 53% $7,785.70
4 44% $6,463.60
5 37% $5,435.30

2009 Honda Civic 4-door DX Sedan:

Year Retained MSRP % Resale Value
New 100% $15,505.00
2 58% $8,992.90
3 51% $7,907.55
4 47% $7,287.35
5 43% $6,667.15

As you can see, the Mazda 3 loses $9,254.7 over five years.
The Honda Civic loses $8,837.85 over five years.
They’ree pretty much the same.

However, resale value shouldn’t be the only aspect used in making a decision to buy a new car though

Here’s cost of ownership over 5 years:

2009 Mazda 3:
Cost of Ownership Details
Depreciation $5,138
Financing Check Rates $2,470
Insurance Get an Auto Insurance Quote $6,925
State Fees $308
Fuel $9,335
Maintenance $1,372
Repairs $650
Gas Guzzler Tax TBD
Hybrid Tax Credit N/A
Total 5-year Ownership Cost $26,198

2009 Honda Civic:

Cost of Ownership Details
Depreciation $4,168
Financing Check Rates $2,434
Insurance Get an Auto Insurance Quote $6,315
State Fees $309
Fuel $8,707
Maintenance $1,368
Repairs $494
Gas Guzzler Tax TBD
Hybrid Tax Credit N/A
Total 5-year Ownership Cost $23,795

Clearly, the Honda is the better value.
If you’ree looking for a fun car though, I would stick with the Mazda.

Q: What will the purchase price for a MAZDA3 s Touring 4-Door Be?
I’m looking to get a MAZDA3 s Touring 4-Door with 5-Speed Sport AT Automatic, Black Mica, Black Cloth, MOONROOF/6CD PACKAGE, REAR WING SPOILER, REMOTE ENGINE START, COMPASS/AUTO-DIM MIRROR WITH HOMELINK, MOONROOF WIND DEFLECTOR, and WHEEL LOCKS. How much does one expect to pay at the dealership? I’m a female and don’t have any males who are will to go with me to the dealership. So if any of you males out there can give me and ideal on how much I should pay then it will be appreciated. I live in the state of Massachusetts so this may help when you all give me your price listing. I will put down 5,000 to buy this car.

A: The best thing to do is cross-shop another mazda dealer. Call 2 dealerships in your area, tell them what you want and get their prices. Then call the higer priced dealer and see if they can beat the lower priced dealers price. This will be your best bet. No dealer wants to be undersold. Good Luck!

Also, if you go to www.mazdausa.com you can find the dealership numbers in your area to call.

Q: How much would you pay for a 2007 Mazda3?
I’m looking at a 2007 gray mazda3 with 54000 miles on it. It’s an automatic and looks very clean. How much tops would you pay for it?

A: I wouldn’t pay over a grand for it since Mazda makes garbage.

Q: How can I make my Mazda3 faster?
I have a 2008 Mazda3 with a 2.0 liter engine and I want to improve the acceleration. How can I do this and is there any way to do this and shave a couple of seconds off of the 0 – 60 time?

A: Shaving a few seconds off your time is a big ask!

The best thing i can reccomend, if you are willing to spend a few grand, is to trade your mazda3 in for a manual trans mazdaSP23.

They come factory with 2.3litre higher performance engines and suspension, brakes, wheels & tyres, and bodykit to suit.
They perform well easily delving into the mid 15 second 1/4 miles factory standard.

If you wish to keep your car, go to a respectable exhaust shop, and order a set of high performance headers, a 2 +1/4 inch exhaust or maybe 2.5inch if you want with a 14 or 16 inch long 3 by 5 inch wide perforated resonator for the muffler, it wont be too loud but will sound good.

Also get a pod filter intake, they sound good and add a fair bit of power because the factory airbox is very restrictive.

Any more power than what that will give you will result in a big increase in $$ from there on out, and its still highly likely your mazda3 with those mods wont be as fast as a standard SP23, think of if you modified the SP23 with those mods too it would be even faster.

Are you looking for Hyundai Elantra Check out your top automotive resource SpeedLux.com

Q: Is a post-2000 model Hyundai Elantra a reliable used car?
I am toying around with the idea of getting an inexpensive used car to replace my wife’s gawdawful 1993 Saturn. A friend of mine said that generally, the Hyundai Elantra is a good (read: reliable) car for the money. Is this true? Any other Hyundai models that are also reliable?

A: Most post-2000 model Hyundai’s are fairly good cars. They are reliable, economical, cheap to operate, and most parts are fairly inexpensive. Any used vehicle is only good as to how it was maintained and taken car of. If properly maintained and not abused most used cars will be a good investment. Ask for any and all records, plus have the vehicle you are interested in inspected by a qualified mechanic prior to purchasing the car. The pre-purchase inspection should be somewhere around $50.00 to $150.00. My Mercedes/BMW mechanic only charges me $40.00.

In 2004, Hyundai tied with Honda for initial brand quality in a survey/study from J.D. Power and Associates, for having 102 problems per 100 vehicles. This made Hyundai second in the industry, only behind Toyota, for initial vehicle quality. The company continued this tradition by placing third overall in J.D. Power’s 2006 Initial Quality Survey, behind only Porsche and Lexus. Hyundai/Kia Automotive Group is the world’s fourth largest automaker (second in Asia) in terms of units manufactured and sold per year and one of the Big Asian Four (with Toyota, Honda and Nissan).

In recent interviews with Toyota executives, they have expressed concerns about Hyundai-Kia and their market share. Hyundai-Kia is the only automobile manufacturer that Toyota fears – and that says something. Kia is also moving up sales rapidly, even quicker than Hyundai due to their improving quality and design (hired the head designer from Audi about two years ago). Hyundai-Kia is the fastest growing foreign brand in China and is the largest exporter of cars in India (Hyundai has plants in both countries). Hyundai-Kia was the only major automaker to sell more vehicles in 2009 than 2008.

Take a look at the link below for actual comments from Hyundai owners and what they think about their vehicles.

Q: does a Hyundai Elantra 2000 timing belt really need to be changed at 60,000 miles?
I have a Hyundai Elantra 2000 with 59K miles on it. It is running fine but the owners manual says that I should change the timing belt. Hyundai wants $650 for the timing belt so I went to a local Goodyear. They say that It will cost like $500 but when you throw in the suggested change of the water pump and new hoses and a coolent system flush it comes to over $1000 bucks. I trust this goodyear dealer they have done work for me before but my question is is it really worth it for a car worth about $3K? How long can I realistcly expect the timing belt, hoses and water pump to last?

A: it is recomended but long as you don’t drive it hard you may get up to 90 thousand miles with it be easy with it good luck

Q: What is a good website for things to put in my 2006 hyundai elantra?
i just got a 2006 Hyundai Elantra and i want to put some cool things inside. do you know any good websites for things like seat covers, floor mats, and anything else that would “pimp” my car haha

A: We do custom seat covers, floor mats, and dash covers for your 2006 Hyundai Elantra. Check out our website at www.seatcoversunlimited.com. Hope this helps.

Q: Are the 2002 Hyundai Elantra parts compatible with the 2000 model?
I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra(automatic) and i’m in need of parts(A/C parts, motor for power windows, bumper, hood). Could I use parts from the 2002 Hyundai Elantra(also automatic) for my 2000 model? Would they be compatible?

Thanks!

A: Call the Hyundai dealer and ask for parts department and ask them this question

Q: Is it possitble to install 2001 Honda Accord’s Stock CD Player into 2001 Hyundai Elantra?
I am thinking of buying a new in dash MP3 player for my dad’s car. He has a stock cassette player right now and I was wondering if it possible to take out the stock CD player from my 2001 Honda Accord and install it into my dad’s 2001 Hyundai Elantra. Also, where can I find more information about this with pictures.

A: if both have the same dimensions, you just need buy the wires conections, thats all.. dont forget give me points.. the knowledges is power

Q: How do i know if i had ABS in my hyundai Elantra?
I bought a hyundai elantra car but i don’t know if i had abs or not,,,
as the dealer told me that i don’t but its standard in my country that it comes with abs…
my question is how to know?

A: Open the hood. As you look at the engine, on your left side (right behind the passenger headlight) you will see like a black box that has 6 metal lines going into it and a big connector with a yellow clip around.

see this picture for location of the ABS module:

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-XD13-IMAGES-ENG/ejkd100a.gif

And this for design and look:

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-XD13-IMAGES-ENG/ejke200a.gif

Also, look in the engine compartment fuse box, turn the lid upside down to see fuse location diagram, locate the place for ABS fuse then, look ot that spot and see if you’ve got a fuse in place. If none of those are there, it means your car has no ABS system.

Another way of checking is to brake hard and see if the wheels are locking on the pavement or not. Should they lock (screech), you have no ABS. Should you feel pulsations in your brake pedal, means you have ABS.

I don’t know where you’re from but, another easy way to see is to look at your wheels. If the rim is metal, no ABS if the rim is alloy-yer ABS. This apply to Elantra model up to 06 production. Don’t quote me exactly on this last sentence because I don’t know where are you from and what year model you have.

Q: How reliable is a 2009 Hyundai Elantra?
How many miles do you think I can expect to put on it before it breaks down? I had a 2004 Hyundai Sonata and drove it for 150,000 miles without one single repair, but that was a 6 cylinder car. Do you think I can expect the same results with the 4 cylinder Elantra? We really need a new car that can make it 5 years and 160,000 miles without breaking down and is fairly inexpensive. The Honda Civic sounds better but it seems pricier. What do you think?

A: This was sent Monday, 6/22, to my wife from Hyundai NA and I truly believe it will answer your question…

HYUNDAI FINISHES FIRST IN JD POWERS INITIAL QUALITY SURVEY (non-luxury)

AHEAD OF TOYOTA! …… AHEAD OF HONDA! …….AHEAD OF NISSAN!

AHEAD OF ALL OTHER NON LUXURY or PREMIUM MANUFACTURERS

This is Great News!!! See Below!

FROM THE DESK OF JOHN (Last name removed)…

Hyundai has once again accomplished an outstanding quality achievement, with the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Survey (IQS3) naming Hyundai the Number One Non-Premium auto maker for quality. We finished ahead of Toyota, Honda and Nissan, first among non-premium nameplates and fourth overall behind only Lexus, Porsche and Cadillac.

*Hyundai #1 Non-Premium Nameplate, beating Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and all the rest of our competition

*Hyundai #4 in Industry, behind only Lexus, Porsche, and Cadillac

*Genesis #1 “All New/Re-Designed Model,” and ties the Lexus brand

*Elantra #1 in the Compact Car Segment, beating Prius, Civic, and Corolla

*Elantra is also a “Top 10 Industry Leading Model” (out of 245 models)

*Accent #2 in the Sub-Compact Car Segment, (missing #1 by just one point)

This is the second time in four years that Hyundai has beaten all other non-premium nameplates. We’re planning a very aggressive public relations and marketing program to get this powerful quality message out to consumers and drive new Hyundai customers to our showrooms.

So, with all that said don’t believe the naysayers who still think Hyundai is a 2nd class auto.

Q: Where are the 2 screws behind the ash tray you need to unscrew to replace the stereo on a 99 hyundai elantra?
On all the guides to removing/replacing a car stereo on a 1999 hyundai elantra it states I need to un screw the 2 screws behind the ash tray, well I have looked and can not find the “2 screws” that it says are there. any help please. also if this is the wrong guide to replacing the stereo, if you know how to do it on this car please tell me thanks

A: There is no screw around the ashtray area. see these pictures and follow instruction to remove the center fascia.

1.Remove the shift lever boot and the rheostat assembly using a (-) driver.

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-RD13-IMAGES-ENG/V5BE095A.gif

2. Remove the center fascia panel mounting screws:

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-RD13-IMAGES-ENG/V5BE095B.gif

3. Disconnect the heater control cable and connectors (6EA), and then remove the center fascia panel:

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-RD13-IMAGES-ENG/V5BE095C.gif

4. Remove the audio mounting screws (4EA) and remove the audio:

http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-RD13-IMAGES-ENG/V5BE095D.gif

Hope this will help you remove and replace your radio.

Q: Why does the automatic transmission seem jerky in my 2005 Hyundai Elantra?
I just acquired (as a gift) a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. This is my second day driving this car. It has 53,000 miles on it. The auto transmission seems a little jerky in comparison with my 2000 Chevrolet Malibu LS which has 178,000 miles on it.

Does it just “seem” this way because the Hyundai handles differently than a Chevy? (It’s been to the mechanics at the dealership for a second opinion and they gave it a clean bill of health).

A: i used to work at a dealership that sold Hyundai’s and I can tell you that they are the biggest piece;s of crap that ever has been an excuse for a car. I’d rather walk ot ride my bike somewhere..

try to sell it and purchase a real car.. or get your chevy back.. I’m driving a 2002 f150 super crew with 110,000 on it and i still have zero problems..

Q: do the 2001 hyundai elantra and tibiron have the same engine?
i have a hyundai elantra and want to know if the interchangeable because i want ot get a little prefomace under the hood

A: Same engine also same HP and torque specs you want a little more performance out of your car,try replacing the throttle body, and opening up the exhaust system to get more free flow but not to much otherwise you will decrease that precious back pressure.

Q: Can I plug my Ipod into a 2000 Hyundai Elantra?
I will be getting a 2000 Hyundai Elantra soon, and Im wondering if I can plug my Ipod into it. Obviously it doesnt have a AUX input, and only plays cassettes. What can I do?

Thank you.

A: ^^

Q: does anyone know the kelley blue book value of a 2000 hyundai elantra?
Just wondering does anybody know the blue book value of a 2000 hyundai elantra that is in decent condition nothing wrong with never been in any accidents?

A: http://www.kbb.com

Q: does a hyundai elantra engine fits in a hyundai accent car?
i would like to find out if the hyundai elantra engine fits in a hyundai accent and also if this upgrade will need any additional mods.

also if there is any perfomance exhaust system for the accent available.

A: I guess you could do it, you may need to exchange the transmission too though. At any rate, its not worth the effort as theirs not much upgrade from the Accent to Elantra engine. You are better off buying a better car instead of wasting alot of money on swapping engines and performance parts on a bargain bin commuter. If you need more details, call a mechanic and see what he thinks and how much it would cost. Dude, just buy a Mazdaspeed 3 263HP 2 litter turbo for about $23K new, can’t beat it.

Q: Is a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT a good car?
I found a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT with 89,876 miles on it for about $5000. I already know it’s a good deal for that price, amount of miles, and age but I just want to know if it’s a good car.

A: The price sounds a little high but I would have to say it’s a very good car. I have over 140,000 miles on my 2001 GT with no major problems. But just like with any car try to get as much info about it as possible, see if all recalls have been taken care of, run a car fax and take it for a good test drive. If you can; see if a tech can look at it for you.
Keep in mind the Elantras use timing belts instead chains so it should have been replaced around the 60k mark and the tranny uses SP-3 fluid. Nearly anything else could ruin it and that should’ve been changed every 30k. Other things to look out for are the thermostat and water pump.

Q: How reliable is a 2007 or 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS/SE Sedan?
I was looking at a 2007 or 2008 Hyundai Elantra and don’t quite know the reliability. I know the old Hyundai vehicles aren’t the best, but have the new ones improved quality and reliability?

A: In 2003, According to Consumer Reports, Hyundai’s reliability rankings tied Hondas.

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2003-03-11-cr-picks_x.htm

In 2006 JD Power and associates quality ranking, overall the Hyundai brand ranked 3rd, just behind Porsche and Lexus, and beating long time rival Toyota.

http://www.autospectator.com/cars/hyundai/0024213-hyundai-highest-ranked-non-premium-nameplate-jd-power-and-associates-initial-quality

The Hyundai Elantra is listed as United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Picks Ten Most Fuel Efficient Vehicles. The Elantra ranked #2 in 2006 and 2007 in the category of most fuel efficient sedans, and also was ranked as the most efficient non-hybrid mid-sized sedan.

http://marketplace.nwsource.com/nwc/autos/research/fuel_economy/fuel_efficent_sedans.html

Hyundai Elantra earned Consumer Reports’ ‘excellent’ rating in predicted reliability. Hyundai Elantra SE is Consumer Reports top-ranked 2008 vehicle amongst 19 other compacts and subcompacts, beating out such high-quality competitors as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

Q: How to promote a product, for instance the 2006 Toyota Prius?
How would i go about promoting the new 2006 toyota prius

A: i would say that you have to reach the younger kids that are rite out of college…remind then and let them know how ur product is cheaper for them so they can go to college…do everything they want and save money..cuz believe it or not..most of the people buying carz rite now…are high school kids…

Q: 2008 Toyota Prius, the screen and the radio are not working. Any suggestions?
I purchased a 2008 toyota Prius very cheap. Its a rebuilt salvage and I had to replace the front bumper and fix the screen inside. It has navigation pkg #6, everything inside works except for the screen and the radio…? I took it to toyota and they checked the fuses only and said ” we have no idea.” Anyone have any suggestions with Prius experience? Josh

A: You may want to try asking on the technical forums on:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Prius_Technical_Stuff/
http://www.priuschat.com/
http://www.priusonline.com
for more ideas on how to finish rebuilding your salvage Prius. (since it is a salvage most dealers will not honor any warranties.)

Could you better define how the screen/radio are not working, or how the navigation and climate control system are working (if your “screen” isn’t working)? Can you operate any of the radio/navigation/climate control features through the steering wheel controls or the voice recognition system? Or do you mean that just the touchscreen functions of the display are not working, but you can still view items there? What sort of salvage vehicle is this – accident, lightning strike, flood?

If you have other Prius experience questions, you should ask other owners, at both the above sites, and also:

good luck!

Q: Can I put the battery form a 2010 Toyota Prius into a 2007 Toyota Prius?
ok i have bought a 2007 Toyota Prius but dont seem to get much out of the battery so I wounderd if I buy a new 2010 model battery will it work ok in the 2007 model ? i do know there were some slight improvements in the 2010 model battery but will this harm my 2007 ?

A: As long as the hybrid system is not giving you the Triangle Of Death the battery is okay. The hybrid system uses it as it sees fit, not the way we might expect. As long as the hybrid warning triangle is not on all batteries will produce identical performance.

I have never heard of a second generation traction battery failing. They are quite a bit improved over the first generation, which still lasts around 200k miles on the average, and should never give you trouble.

Q: Can I change my 2002 toyota prius stock stereo system?
I went to mothers window tint in austin and i was trying to get another stereo for my 2002 toyota prius and they told me that “theres nothing we can do for you”. i dont know too much about what they meant i just wanna know if it is possible to change my stereo or not. im looking to change the stereo and speakers and maybe get an amp.

A: Of course you can change the speakers — but changing the stock radio/cassette player is impossible. (Unless you’re willing to completely re-do the dashboard, and give-up the touchscreen capability of the stock unit.)

With some effort, it is possible to interface an aftermarket unit to the Prius, but it’s definitely not trivial. One enthusiast that has done so, and marketed his results, is listed in the “source” section below. He’s been out-of-stock on his products for awhile, and it could be that he isn’t planning on producing more — after all, how much demand is there for add-on audio equipment for the Prius, model years 2001-2003 only?

Q: Does the Toyota Prius navigation system speak street names?
Does the Toyota Prius navigation system speak street names?

A: Hi,

no, the voice does not speak the actual street names in standard guidance.

But it does speak basic guidance and directions such as “a half mile ahead, turn right”, “temperature set to 72 degrees” when you speak the temp you want, and repeating the point of interest search items you’ve spoken to it, such as “ATM” or “Italian food”.

Q: What cars have the touch control shift lever besides the 2008 Toyota Prius (picture included)?
http://www.toyota.com/prius/interior.html

I really love having the gears in front of me next to the wheel. I just wonder if other cars offer the same thing.
It’s the 4th picture from the left.

A: I’m pretty sure the new odyssey has it.

Q: I heard that toyota sells completely electric Prius’s in the states, is it really true?
cause my science teacher was telling us how his friend in the states has a completely electric toyota prius. i knew that technology exists to make practical electric cars, but are they already in mass production?

A: No it’s not true. Some companies do make modifications where you can turn your Prius into a plug-in hybrid, but even then it’s not 100% electric, and Toyota hasn’t made a plug-in version yet. See here:

http://greenhome.huddler.com/products/hymotion-l5-battery-pack

The first affordable highway speed EV is about to come out in the US in June ‘08 – the Green Vehicles Traic.

http://greenhome.huddler.com/products/green-vehicles-triac

It will be able to go 80 mph, 100 miles per charge, and cost $20k.

Q: How do you drive a TOYOTA PRIUS? (10 points for STEP By Step Instructions)?
I don’t personally own one, but my cousin does and he said the salesman took a month to learn how to drive one. It takes a while for a person to learn. So I was wondering for 10 points, can anyone give me details step by step instructions on how to drive a Toyota Prius.

Thank you

A: http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/prius-main-forum/422d1142949905-2006-prius-valet-cards-valet_card.pdf or http://www.eaa-phev.org/wiki/Image:Prius-valet-card-small.jpg
The above is the Valet card that (should) come with the current NHW20 generation Toyota Prius. 3 simple steps to start the car, 3 simple steps to shift, 3 simple steps to park.

If you have never driven a car before, then yes, I could see how it would take a month to learn how to drive one.

If you have driven a traditional automatic car before, there is nothing really all that strange to learn. Keyfob goes in the slot, press brake and Power button to turn on. Move shift joystick into D or R, drive as normal. Press P to Park, then Power off.

If you have an older NHW11 Prius, it is just like a traditional automatic car. The shift lever is on the steering column, nothing all that wierd there. Traditional key, too.

However, if you want to drive for maximum fuel efficiency, it may take a while for you to change your existing bad driving habits (such as speeding or jackrabbit starts/stops)… Read up on some hypermiling techniques (which can be applied to any car) to start practicing.

If you need more information, I’d suggest the user-generated Prius User Guide (more condensed and an easier read than the Owner’s Manual): http://john1701a.com/prius/prius-userguide.htm

Q: How does a toyota prius charge itself?
Hi i m thinking of buying a toyota prius but i m not sure how they are good for the eviromnet does anyone know thanks

A: the Prius has two motors; one electric and one gasoline powered. the gas motor is used when you’re at decent speeds or need more power to climb a hill. when it’s running, it charges the electric motor the same way it charges the car battery, by using the alternator to produce current which is sent to the electric motor.

they’re NOT good for the environment. do you know how much uranium is used to make your average hybrid? yes, you’re saving gas, but now we’re tapping into another resource altogether.

Q: what are the negative things about Toyota Prius ?
i’m buying one soon but i heard couple of things about toyota prius like the battery is pretty expensive … is it true like if something happen to the battery it migt cost me alot ?

A: wow all this talk from them yet no one actually has one,i have a 04 and never had battery issues, yes the battery is expensive but they DO LAST 15 YEARS,mind you give or take a few years, but in the long run you ll still save on gas,i love how many trash Toyotas yet they keep wining all these awards and yes the priuse is the most green car out there at the moment, dont belive me see jd power website,so never mind all these haters they talk and trash yet they never had one to see for them self, remember dont belive everything you read on line,if you did then aliens have arrived, 9.11 was american conspiracy,,se what im doing, showing you that the web lies alot.ask someone who has one, that simple,,wait you did,me

Q: Should I buy Lexus hybrid 250HS or Toyota Prius IV?
I know about the price difference between these two but would like to hear more from the owners of either of these cars. I don’t really care about the gas/mileage but also don’t want to spend way too much on maintenance and repair. Also is it true that Toyota Prius is hard to drive and Lexus is smooth drive. If you were given an option to choose between the two, which one would you pick?

A: I can tell you that my two Prius have been low on maintenance costs and that low maintenance has been the typical experience of those in the Yahoo Prius groups that I follow. There is just not much maintenance required:

An oil and filter change every 5000 miles plus a tire rotation (this has changed to every 10,000 miles in the 2010 model). 3.5 quarts of oil plus a filter.

An engine and cabin air filter change every 15,000 miles.

A drain and fill of the transaxle every 40,000 miles (4 quarts).

Coolant change at 100,000 miles and then every 50,000 miles.

Spark plug and brake fluid change every 100,000 miles.

The FUD about the battery is just that: FUD. Chances are good that you will never need to replace the large traction battery during the time you own it. The next owner probably won’t have to replace it either, and when the third or fourth owner does replace it, it’s less than $2000 for a new one–and the price has been going down every year. And of course, just like a transmission, you can get rebuilt ones for even less. Honestly, the FUD put out about the battery is just made up because the detractors will grasp at any straw to say something negative.

I have both a 2001 and a 2004 and they are both on the original batteries. I’ve kept a logbook on the 2004 and in 115,000 miles fuel, dealer maintenance, and tires have cost a whole 12 cent per mile. Insurance is pretty cheap too–about $250 for six months for collision and comprehensive.

I don’t know what you mean by “hard to drive”. The Prius seems no more difficult than any other car. I’ve not driven the Lexus, but I can’t imagine how it could be easier to drive.

The difference between the two is that one is a sedan and the other is a hatchback. Depending upon what you do the hatchback might be more practical because of the increased cargo area.

The other difference is that the Lexus seats are more adjustable. There is likely more sound-proofing as well. They should be for a base price that’s $37,420 compared to $28,070 (I’ve used the highest end base price for both cars).

So there you have it. The Lexus is quieter and has more adjustable seats. The Prius has better mpg, more cargo area and a lower price. The choice is really up to you because only you know what’s important in a car.

And both cars do have other benefits. The safety features such as vehicle stability control, radar pre-collision, etc. are not found in cars in the Prius’ price range. In addition, the Prius is fun to drive. After 115,000 miles I still look forward to the morning commute.

Q: What grade Toyota Prius should I get?
So I have convinced myself that I’m going to get a Toyota Prius. I have a friend that has one and he absolutely loves it. But, I had a question from those who may own a 2010 version. What grade Prius should I get (meaning the Prius II, III, IV or V)? I don’t need the options that are on the IV and V, so really I’m looking between the Prius II and III, but I don’t know which one gives you more for your dollar?

A: Considering the ongoing rash of defects, recalls and safety issues with so many Toyota vehicles including the Prius, perhaps you should hold off on until the dust settles, and you can be sure it is a wise and safe investment. In the meantime, check out comparable models of other manufacturers.

Q: what are the microenvironmental factors that affected toyota prius when it was introduced in USA?
i want other poeple to help me find out thre microenvironmental factors that affected the introduction of toyota prius in the year 2000.

A: Hi,

not a problem, but what factors are you looking for, exactly?

The cost of production of the Prius?

The length of time a Prius is expected to remain on the road compared to a typical vehicle?

The cost of repairs and maintenance compared to a typical vehicle?

I’m not certain what information you need, but here is my usual breakdown for each 100,000 miles of operation for a Prius, information on the nickel metal hydride hybrid battery, and other general info.

BTW, it’s a shame about any poor responses to your question. I usually take a look at the best answer percentage of any person posting and keep that, and any nasty comments they put up, in mind when I read their responses.

Moving on…

I’llstart by breaking down the cost of operation for a Prius. Please compare that to what is honestly spent on any other vehicle.

The cost of operation of a Prius is about .08 cents per mile for each 100,000 miles of operation. I don’t add in insurance, bank interest, or the cost of the vehicle itself, because all of those can vary based on each owner’s situation. Add them to the .08 cents per mile amount.

A Prius will maintain 51-53 average if driven properly, meaning easing off the accelerator when coming to a stop and accelerating like there is a egg under the accelerator and trying to roll the egg out, not crush it. In other words, driving defensively and learning to get the most out of the hybrid drivetrain.

As far as the cost to operate a Prius over 100,000 miles:

- There is no steering belt or steering pump, the system is electronic and uses electric motors. There is no belt to wear and no pump to lose fluid out of (ever hear a car squeal when it goes around a corner? that’s the belt or pump going bad) No cost there.

And before anyone says anything, check with a knowledgable electrician on how long an electric motor will last considering it has essentially one moving part. Compare that to the wear and tear of an internal combustion engine or standard mechanical pump.

- There is no accelerator cable or cable linkage, once again, it is electronic. So there is no loss of acceleration over time from cable stretch and wear like on a standard vehicle. No cost there.

- The brake pads should never need to be replaced, they are hardly used due to the regenerative braking system. Look up pictures on the net of Prius with no appreciable wear on the brake pads. One great example is an owner who thought to take pictures of his Prius’ brake pads at 8,000 miles and then again at 105,000 miles. The pads were measured with calipers and there was no appreciable wear after 97,000 miles. No cost there.

- You never touch the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery or the hybrid system, it is self regulating. No cost there.

- The gas engine is not tuned up for 100,000 miles. At even 15,000 miles per year, that’s about seven years. And then…

- four spark plugs run $12.00 each, four is $48.00 (the wires aren’t replaced and there are no distributors because each cylinder has a direct injection module and they are not replaced)

- coolant is $15.50 a gallon and you need two gallons, or $31.00 (if you live in an extremely hot or cold climate, you might need to change the coolant 2X in 100,000 miles so figure $62.00 there)

- air filters are $18.00 for the engine and $25.00 for the cabin and are replaced every 15,000 miles. So over 100,000 miles, we’ll go high and say 7 sets of air filters at $301.00.

- inspect the wiring, change the oil (might as well, since you’re there) lube, inspect and flush the brake lines, flush the coolant if necessary. It runs about $225.00, which includes parts.

- the sealed, continuously variable transmission fluid is not changed until 90,000 miles, about $140.00

- The OEM (Original Equipment from the Manufacturer) Goodyear Integrity’s are about $113.00 each, installed. The originals are low-rolling resistance, specialty tires, just like a truck or sports car. They will last about 35,000 or so. Three sets of OEM tires- over 105,000 miles- will run $339.00 installed.

- Oil and filter changes every 3000 miles and tire rotations every 6000 miles, just like any other vehicle. Oil changes are about $26.00 and tire rotations are about $18.00, or about $884.00 for oil changes and $306.00 for rotations over 100,000 miles

So, over 100,000 miles, for regular service, a Prius should run about $2231.00, rounded to $2300.00, or about .023 cents per mile.

All of my service and parts amounts come from a local Toyota dealership, and do not figure in any kind of promotions, coupons, or discounts. I called on 6/12/07.

We’ll go high and say gas in a Prius will run about $6,000 over 100,000 miles, or about .06 cents per mile (100,000 miles / 50 mpg (I get 51.7 mpg currently as an average, city and highway, auto temp w/air and stereo on) = 2000 gallons of gas X $3.00 a gallon = $6,000).

So a Prius will run about $8000, or .08 cents per mile, to operate over 100,000 miles.

I used 100,000 miles because it is a easy, round number, and most people don’t keep their vehicles more than 6 or 7 years. The Prius will last much, much longer than 100,000, and it will perform better at that amount than most vehicles on the road with 100,000 or 150,000 miles.

Any vehicle you are considering should be put to this kind of scrutiny. A vehicle is a major investment and it will cost you money to run properly. Please print this info out and use it to compare any vehicles by calling your local dealership and asking the parts and service departments what is involved in maintenance over 100,000 miles.

As far as the energy and materials for the NiMH batteries go:

Our federal government has tested NiMH batteries from the Prius and discovered they still maintain 90% of their capacity after 100,000 miles. They do not lose 10% capacity/storage/efficiency per year, as others have stated. Look up the testing at the DOE website.

Toyota has never had a customer pay to replace a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery in any of their hybrids ever. That is for Prius, Camry Hybrids or Highlander Hybrids. The Prius have been in the US since 2000, eight years, and in Japan for the last ten years.

There have been NiMH batteries replaced because of accidents or owner damage or neglect (wiring in a big stereo, for example), but no one has ever had to pay otherwise.

BTW, the price for a new NiMH battery for either generation of the Prius is $2985.13, not the $5-10,000.00 that people like to throw around the internet. Call your local Toyota dealer and ask for the parts department.

And the current record is over 360,000 miles on a Prius using the original NiMH battery and hybrid system. Many Prius are used as taxis and also by the State of New York and Colorado as state municipal vehicles racking up 100,000-200,000 miles without issue on a regular basis. Those are not typos, anything else you may have seen is an urban myth.

Speaking for Toyota, there is an 800 number on each nickel metal hydride battery (the one that provides the energy to move the Prius, Camry, or Highlander Hybrids) and that number allows a person to turn in that battery for a $200.00 bounty.

The entire battery, just like almost every bit of those vehicles, is completely recyclable.

The alkaline batteries that people use and throw out are a different type of battery than what is in vehicles like the Prius. The Hybrid Synergy Drive unit that Toyota developed is designed to keep the NiMH battery in a mid-peak charge range, trying not to top-charge it or, of course, completely discharge it.

That enables a NiMH to last fairly indefinitely. Obviously, there will be some breakdown eventually, but one of the great things about the Prius system, for example, is the NiMH battery is composed of 36 individual cells. If one cell goes bad, it can be replaced and the remainder stay. That is what’s happened when Toyota has torture tested the Prius in Alaska and Death Valley.

Working with Toyota, I know about their commitments to recycling and the environment (Toyota’s web site lists environmental reports dating back many years).

As far as the supposed “environmental impact” of the nickel metal hydride batteries in the Prius, Camry Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid…

The plant in Sudbury where Toyota buys approximately 1.5% of the plant’s annual nickel output can be seen using this Google maps address:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&la…

Sudbury, Ontario is called the mining capital of the world for good reason.

The Sudbury plant has been in continuous operation since the rock was blasted to make way for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883.

That means that nickel has been mined there for the last 124 years. The Prius has been on the road since 1998. What about all the environmental damage done for the 116 years before the Prius ever came along?

There used to be a great deal of pollution at the Sudbury plant, just like there was at a lot of factory facilities. However, new pollution controls are in place and Sudbury residents themselves will talk about how things are improving dramatically in the area around the plant. Young trees are growing there, even now.

Another thing noted about the area around the plant is the Apollo astronauts trained there. It has been said that the area around the plant was as lifeless a wasteland as the moon. Actually, the astronauts trained there because the rock formations were similar to those on the moon. This area of Ontario was hit by a meteorite which created a basin and caused much of the look of the area. The moonscape feeling is also from the slag heaps from smelter output. Anyone who has ever seen any factory facility knows there is always a large amount of material left over from the original raw materials, be that a nickel plant, a steel smelter, or a dog food producer.

Also the environmental damage is not all due to the nickel plant – there is other industry, and a lot of the trees disappeared due to extensive logging.

Here’s a breakdown:

The Sudbury nickel plant produces around 60,000 tons of nickel per year. If Toyota buys 1000 tons/year, that’s around 6% of the total output.

I personally present Prius NiMH batteries to local safety responders and fire department personnel. The entire pack weighs 117.47 pounds, which is the components as well as the actual nickel itself. The nickel weighs about 50 pounds. So that’s 50lb per Prius, with 2000 pounds per ton, that’s 40 Prius per ton of nickel.

Considering the plant puts out 120,000,000 pounds of nickel each year, each Prius uses about 0.000024 of the annual production of the Sudbury plant.

And that’s about it. No surprises and the maintenance is pretty simple. Please let me know if my math is off anywhere, and I’ll be glad to make corrections.

Q: Toyota Prius owners… How much cargo room do you have in the hatch?
The local Toyota dealer can not keep a Prius in stock to test drive. I want to know if I could fit a lot of stuff in the back. Do the rear seats fold forward? I would be hauling a small Public Address system and a few guitars.

A: Try more than one dealer, preferrably one with a TRAC program. Also try some of the rental car outlets, they may have one.

You could also post your location – there may be some friendly Prius owners nearby that may give you a test drive.

With the back seat folded, you should have no problems. I’ve heard of a 8′ windboard carried inside a Prius with the front passenger and rear seats down. I’ve carried a 7′ closet pole home in my 2004 with just the back seats down (pole in between the two front seats). I’ve also heard of a cello in a hardback case carried, too.

You may want to ask other actual owners what they’ve carried, and if anyone can suggest a dealer near you with a TRAC or demo Prius available (or if they’d let you try out their own car).

Q: Can a Toyota Prius last a road trip?
I have a 2005 Toyota Prius with 47,000 miles and want to drive from Texas to California then back. Does anyone know if a hybrid can handle that?

A: Easily. Any hybrid can.

Q: trying to decide between the chevy equinox and the toyota rav4?
i am trying to decided on the toyota rav4 or the chevy equinox to purchase. i want to know the pros and cons of both. mainly repair issues when it comes to each. thank you

A: rav4 info:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/overview/toyota_rav4_2010#100089710

equinox info:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/cars/chevrolet_equinox#100231753

looks like the experts prefer the equinox:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/webreview/x101697512_2010-chevrolet-equinox-kbb-professional-review

hope that helps.

Q: If I bought a 2001 Toyota Rav4 Used & want the key remote?
How do I find out first of all if the 2001 Toyota Rav4 originally came with a remote key (a clicker for lock & unlock) and second of all where can I get a replacement remote key? Thanks!

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: What is really important to do in the 15000-mi service appt for a Toyota Rav4?
My 2005 Toyota Rav4 (4WD) is due for a 15,000-mi service. But, the dealership charges $199 for it! I understand the oil change, tire rotation, and checking the air filter/brake pads are important. How important is it to re-torque the drive shaft bolt? What does that even mean?

Here are the other recommended things to inspect:
~ Ball joints and dust covers
~ Brake lines and hoses
~ Drive shaft boots
~ Engine coolant 5
~ Exhaust pipes and mountings
~ Radiator core and condenser
~ Rear differential oil
~ Steering gear box
~ Steering linkage and boots
~ Transfer case oil

I do about 60% city driving with about 40% highway driving in an urban environment with light-medium traffic. I haven’t driven off-road yet.

A: I would change oil and filter, check and replace air cleaner if necessary, check the fulid levels and maybe rotate the tires. Engine coolant should be changed on a 24 month cycle. Also check the wiper blades.

Q: Why does my 1997 toyota rav4 turns off while i drive?
My rav4 turns off when i’m driving. After a while my rav4 turns off ,then i give it a couple of cranks and it will turn back on. I replace the fuel pump and strainer, and fuel filter. It’s a 1997 toyota rav4 2.0L 4 cylinders 2wd.
does anyone have any idea? thank you

A: not sure about rav4 1997, but i heard toyota had recalls of several models sold from 1995 to 2000 recently, i dont remember well, but i think it was for noah, because of engine problems. my friend got information about recall via mail, and changed the car, but it was not official recall. it can be really dangerous if a car stops while drivin, so i would contafct official distributor to find out if there’s sth wrong with this particular model.

Q: What are Toyota RAV4’s like to drive and keep?
Question is in the title really.

Im 24 and always promised to buy myself a Toyota RAV4 when I turn 25. I love them.

In general though; are they comfy, practical, reliable??? I would like to hear your thoughts.

A: I bought one in 1999, and drove it cross country full of my cats. It is a great little “wanna be” truck, good mileage, very responsive, (back seats a little cramped for adult legs) and have had no major repairs in the last 11 years. It now belongs to an ex who bought it from me 5 years ago. If anything it is not great on ice (but what is) and the wind has a tendency to noticeably push it.
Personally I am not fond of the more rounded larger look Toyota came out with, I looked at one before I bought my 2009 Scion it was too big for my tastes/needs.

Q: What are the Toyota RAV4 cloth seats like?
If you have a 2002-2005 model Toyota RAV4 with cloth seats, are they the velour kind or the tweed-ish kind that you can have scotchguarded? Thanks!

A: The one I drove(‘04) had the “tweed-ish” kind both kinds can be Scotchguarded® But I would choose a protectant with less of an odor.

Q: what are the symtoms of having a faulty oxygen sensor for a toyota rav4(2001)?
I’ve just bought a used toyota RAV4 recently. The time I test drive the car was very smooth and engine is very quite. For the past days, I notice specially when the engine is cold and when you start, the idle is to high and it take time before it goes to a normal state. I was thinking if its the oxygen sensor? spark plug? high tension wire or improper timing?

A: Brandon, what does the temp gauge do? If it lags in the cold area for a long time or never gets up to about half way the thermostat could be sticking open. If it sticks open the engine will not reach normal operating temp, or at least will take a long time to do so. The computer will see the low temp and keep the idle up higher than normal. I’d suggest having someone check the engine actual temp against what the computer is seeing, too. That way you will know if the problem is “real” (thermostat?) or not (coolant temp sensor?) But it needs to be done by someone with experience with that type of situation, or you will end up spending money you didn’t need to!
Hope this helps. God Bless!

Q: How soon do brakes and tires need to be replaced on a Toyota RAV4?
My 2006 RAV4 needed brakes and new tires after only 2 years with approx. 25,000 miles. Is this normal? I know that it depends on your driving habits but I’ve never needed these things done on any other vehicle I have owned.

A: you done good on mileage you really cant use mileage as a factor in some cases ,because some people have to use the brakes more than others do,so you cant always go by the amount of miles on a car,go by the amount that you have to use the brakes,25 thousand is good for a set of brakes though on any car, good luck.

Q: Can someone who owns a 2007 Toyota RAV4 tell me the pros and cons of owning one?
We test drove one and really liked it, but have been hearing a lot of things about the engine noise on freeways. Can someone who owns one, tell us the pros and cons of a RAV4?

A: I traded in a 1999 4Runner and a 2005 Corolla on a 2007 RAV4 about a month ago. I bought the 4 Cylinder Sport. I have heard no engine noise at all, in fact it has been a great little SUV. I’m not sure if you are looking at the base model, sport or limited, but I would recommend the Sport but in a V6 instead of the 4 cylinder I bought. You will get better power, and the gas mileage is not too different than the 4 cylinder. I had to buy a 4 cylinder in order to make an even exchange for my trades.

Generally speaking….

THE PROS:
-Can move the rear seat back further to make more room in the backseat.
-Comfortable seats
-6 CD changer nice amenity
-Dash set up nicely
-Lots of trunk space
-Very smooth ride, smooth shifting automatic transmission
-Gas mileage comparable to a car but SUV performance
-4WD performs awesome!
-Price is very good for the quality you get!

CONS:
-It is a small SUV, therefore if you haul lots of kids, pets, etc. it may be worthwhile to pass over the RAV or even Highlander for a 4Runner.
-Doesn’t have 4WD in high and low
-As mentioned before, 4 cylinders lack power at critical points, like merging onto freeways, etc.

Overall, I’d pick a Toyota over any of its competitors. Hope my two cents helped!

Q: Does the 1998 Toyota Rav4 4×4 transfercase come with a 4 low?
Does the 1998 Toyota Rav4 4×4 transfercase come with a 4 low? If so what ratio is it?
glendawr what does have a 4low in the small suv class? I’m after GREAT MPG not just good. 20+!!

A: The RAV4 is not a true 4×4 – the answer to your question is no. Very few of this class of SUV have a low range.

Q: How do I replace the reverse light on my 04 Toyota Rav4?
I noticed recently that my Rav4 has a reverse light out. I can’t figure out how to access the light to replace it does anyone have a clue?
I noticed recently that my Rav4 has a reverse light out. I can’t figure out how to access the light to replace it does anyone have a clue?

Edit: I’ve looked at the panels in the back on the inside. I can only reach the lights for one side that way. The other side has no screws or anything to remove the cover.

A: in the boot there should be a section of the plastic u can take off to access the bulbs(u may need to take anouther panel insite that) then fing out which is brocken(test) and replace it.
OR there may be some screws on the outside of the car to take off the red plastic to acces the screws one of them anyway

Q: Is a 98 Toyota Rav4 good in snow?
I’m thinking about buying a 1998 Toyota Rav4 2 wheel drive (front wheel drive). Are these good in snow?

And, will it say 4×4 anywhere on the exterior if it is 4 wheel drive?

10 points today to the person with the best answer!

A: My honest opinion is that front-wheel drive is perfectly capable of getting you through light snow (3-4 inches or less). Your 2WD RAV4 is a bit on the light side at around 2700 lbs., which doesn’t help it in deeper snow with 2WD. 4WD only adds power to the back wheels; it doesn’t necessarily guarantee you more traction in deep snow. In the end, there really is no benefit in having 4 wheels spinning without traction instead of only 2 wheels spinning without traction. My aunt has a 1997 RAV4 with 318,000 trouble-free miles on it, and she drove on gravel roads with deep ruts, and in winter, she had to navigate through whatever snowfall came that day. Sometimes she had to park her car at the top of the road because she didn’t feel confident she’d get through the deep snow with her RAV4. I don’t think you will go wrong by purchasing this 98 RAV4 with 2WD.

Q: Is the Toyota Rav4 considered a vehicle just for women?
I don’t mean any offence BTW. I’ve just noticed that a lot of younger women drive Rav4’s around my area. I’m in the market for a new vehicle that’s good on gas, but I’m not really a fan of cars since they sit so low and aren’t as safe as trucks and SUV’s. I’m 6′5″ so leg room is a big must. Would a Rav4 be too small for me?

A: It has become a chic vehicle lately. The new VW Bug did too.

Q: Question about starting problem on Toyota Rav4 5-Speed?
I have a 2002 Toyota Rav4 5-Speed, recently when I start it, the ignition just clicks, and I have to press gas pedal down then it will start. If I shut car off, it will restart with no problems, but if car has been sitting for a bit, the starting difficulty returns. Is this a battery problem? or starter?

A: Pressing down on the gas pedal is not doing anything if it just clicks when trying to start (coincidence maybe). If it makes a loud single “click” when trying to start-it needs a starter (built in solenoid). If it makes a series of fast clicks-test your battery (and check for excessive corossion on cable ends).

Q: How much can I get for my Toyota Rav4?
I am selling my 2005 basic 2WD Rav4, with 29,000 miles on the clock. One owner, clean carfax history. It’s also automatic.

How much do you think I can get for?

A: Kelly Wholesale is $16975 and Retail is $20600. U decide from there what’s fair.

Q: How to reset the Engine Oil Life Display on a 2007 Honda CR-V vehicle?
I tried following the steps of my Honda Owner’s Manual, but to no avail.

A: push and hold the trip reset button on the dash then turn your key on continue to hold until light goes out

Q: Do you know if the 2008 Honda CR-V comes with a DVD entertainment system?
I’m considering purchasing a new vehicle. I had my eye on the CR-V for a while…but I was wondering if you can order one with a built-in DVD entertainment system. I know you can buy one for the Mazda CX-7 as an accessory. I think it’d be good because I have a son who’s becoming a toddler and videos can entertain him while seating in his chair.

A: we have an 08cr-v. it does not have that as an option. i have seen the type that hang between the bucket seats for sale at kmart and such. maybe that would do it for you.
you will like the cr-v; it is a good car.

Q: Taking a roadtrip with 5 adults in a 2000 Honda CR-V?
Is there anyone with a Honda CR-V that has taken a roadtrip with 4 or 5 adults? I’m wondering if my car will be able to handle the weight of all of us plus our luggage. We’re all pretty small, largest person about 170 pounds.

A: if its a 2000,
it should have a b20 block, which is a pretty strong last engine, i suggest you put a b16 vtec head on it.
but as for everything else, a crv is a small car, its just basically a raised honda accord hatchback, its a car, not a SUV (which is commonly mistaken)

Q: The Honda CR-V: How did it get its name? Do the initials stand for anything?
CR-V must have some meaning. What does it mean?

A: The Honda CR-V is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by the Japanese automaker Honda since 1996. It was loosely derived from the Honda Civic to satisfy a public demand for a sport-utility vehicle from Honda. There are discrepancies as to what “CR-V” stands for, with Honda sources in different markets citing different meanings. Though Honda sales literature in UK reportedly makes references to “Compact Recreational Vehicle”, other Honda references (including the official Honda Japan CR-V Fact Book and Honda Worldwide) cite “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle”.

and also for a little side knowledge The name “CR-X” and what its acronym stands for is widely disputed, the most popular being “Civic Renaissance model X”.

Q: How to fold the Honda CR-V outside side mirrors to fit in garage?
2010 Honda CR-V LX

A: Put your hand on the back of the mirror and push it towards the car/window.

Q: How much is the Honda CR-V in Japan or Europe ?
I love the new CR-V, but there is a big difference in Japan and Europe vs the US version. How can I get the International version in the US.

A: Not sure of the price but I do know that is much cheaper here in the U. S.

Q: Where can i find the lowest financing for 2007 honda CR-V?
Im in the tri state area looking to finance a honda 2007 CR-V can anyone please help

A: Your best bet would be to talk to the bank you have had an account with for a long period of time. Better yet would be a credit union. Improving your credit can also help find a better interest rate on financing.

Q: How much gas would a Honda Cr-v use (14 miles to the gallon) for a 730 mile trip?
Im not sure how big the tank is but I want to say around 12-14 gallons. It gets roughly 14 miles to the gallon. Can you tell me how many gallons of gas I will be using and roughly how much it might cost over 730 miles? Thanks!

A: 730 miles at 14 mpg = 52.2 gallons (approximately)

52.2 gallons at $3.25 per gallon = $169.65

Q: Anyone know of a discount/rebate/incentive on a 2008 Honda CR-V LX ?
Looking to buy a new 2008 Honda CR-V Lx 2WD. I believe sometimes the manufacturer gives a rebate or discount on these or gives incentives to the customer or dealer. Anyone know of these – we’re in Texas.

A: I bought a cr-v a year and a half ago, honda is very stingy when it comes to rebates. we went through the costco buying program and saved a little over 1000.00. I have never seen rebates on the cr-v from the dealer so if the costco auto buying program is an option try that, other wise you may have to negotiate the destination fees and some other fees that they include in the sticker to get a better price. good luck we love our cr-v, great car good gas mileage.

Q: How can I remove a paint scratch from my black honda cr-v?
I want to remove it without messing up the car’s original paint.

A: use a scratch remover and then follow it up with a wax. The scratch remover will strip away a small amount of paint and cover up the scratch. FOLLOW the directions on the bottle exactly. If it is a real bad scratch, then get some touch up paint. Good Luck

Q: What kind of gasoline should I use for my 2003 Honda CR-V?
Does it matter what type of gasoline I use for my car? I heard that I should use premium but I’m not sure if it is neccessary. Could I use regular? I would perfer to use regular because it’s cheaper but if premium is better for my car, I’ll be willing to use it too.

A: A 2003 Honda CR-V will run fine on regular gas. That is the manufacturer recommendation on the CR-V. This is because its not a high performance engine, so higher octane wont do anything for it. So save some money and just keep filling regular. If however you feel like the car is acting weird on regular gasoline (pings, knocks, etc) try putting in the mid-grade. I have 4 Honda’s and 3 of them only need regular gasoline, but i run mid-grade because it seems to make the cars run a little better and i notice almost zero knocks and pings. Your fine running on regular (87 octane) in a CR-V!

Q: What is the difference between the 2008 Honda CR-V and the 2009 Honda CR-V?
I want to know the difference betwwen the 2008 and 2009 LX models only, please.

A: No big changes for the CR-V this year. You should be expecting a mid model makeover next year.

This year they did add another color “Urban Titanium Metallic”.

Q: Can i convert a Honda CR-V ‘98′ to gas and with 198000ks on the clock, is it worth the risk?
I am considering converting my Honda to gas, as i like having a bigger car just not the fuel bill. Is it possible or even worth it to convert to gas? I have 198,000 ks on the clock, and i expect to own the car for another 5 years. Also in terms of filling up. I spend $80 to fill up on petrol, how much would i expect to pay for gas per week.

A: what ??? this question makes no sense..
petrol is UK for gas…and gas IS gas…so what you’re asking is how to convert a gas powered SUV into a gas powered SUV…

Q: Where is the pivot bolt and lock nut of the idler pulley for the air conditioner belt on a 2001 honda CR-V?
Please help…we are almost done changing the torn belts on our car. Since we can’t afford to have them done we are doing it ourselves-fun. Can you please help us with how to release the tension on the air conditioner belt.
Thank you
Oh and a competely random question… what is Honda part pp-GF30 for?

A: If it doesn’t use a serpentine belt then it will look something like this http://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww136/hondahien/IMG00048-20090512-0900.jpg

Loosen the nut in front of the pulley (can’t see in the picture). Next, loosen the long bolt. From the picture, looks like a 12mm deep socket. This long bolt when tightened will bring the pulley up increasing the tension on the belt.

There are 4 bolts holding the AC compressor. There is no need to touch those.

Q: will a factory Honda CR-V navigation system fit a 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
My Ridgeline has a Double din stereo insert and would like to know if the CR-V navigation system would be a perfect fit.

A: i dont know about that, check the ridgeline forum www.ridgelineownersclub.com

you will learn more then you ever wanted to know about the ridgeline

Q: how do i operate my windows remotely for a hyundai sonata?
just bought a 2010 sonata and i hear it has remote windows. how do i use them?

A: The best thing is for you to read the manual, it will tell you there. Can’t say they don’t but have never heard of remote windows and if so your car salesman should have showed you.

Q: Trouble with a 96 Hyundai Sonata starting after it warms up?
I have a Sonata that will start easy when the motor is cold and run for as long as I don’t shut it off. When I shut it off it will not even try to start until the motor has cooled all the way back down. Like a couple of hours or over night. When I try to restart it the lights come on in the dash, but the starter doesn’t even try to turn the motor over. If anyone has any ideas about what my problem might be please let me know!
Thanks!

A: Sounds like you need a starter, sometimes they suffer from heat soak and will not start while hot. Hence why it will run all day but won’t start after you kill it.

Q: How do I change the reverse / back up light in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata LX?
So I love my Sonata but the darn right reverse light has went out. You know, the little white one. So anyway, I need to replace this but I’m not sure how to get to it. Could anyone help me?

A: Open your trunk lid and look up at the inside. You should see 2 small screws for each light at the edge of the lid. Remove these screws and pull the light out. The bulb will be right there.

Q: Hyundai Sonata?
Hi… I own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata and would like to get my oil changed, but do not know which grade or which kind to use? I live in Michigan, so temperatures may range from 0-100…! IDK, anyways, if you can answer my question, please specify which kind of oil, or grade to use! If not, a website to search on would be prefferable….! Thank you

A: A good quality 5-30 engine oil is what hyundai recomends! for all temps. engine tolerances are to tight to run anything else. also make sure you go to a hyundai dealer and buy a hyundai oil filter, there is a tsb on engine noise, using aftermarket oil filters. i hope this is helpful.

Q: how much does a hyundai sonata usually cost to insure in MA?
My sister is trying to buy a used 2006 hyundai sonata and we were wondering how much a month it usually costs to insure it? She’s only 21 and has had her license for four years without an accident? She tried to get a quote from gieco but they only showed the six month plan. Any helpful information about the car or insurance would be greatly appreciated!

A: Not enough information. Her zip code will be a major factor in the quote along with her annual mileage.

Q: Hyundai Sonata?
I was thinking about purchasing one…does anyone drive one? If so what do you think about it?

A: Exceptional product!!!!!

Hyundai is rated #3 in the world for initial quality and consumer satisfaction. You don’t put a 100,000 mile warranty on a product that isn’t going to last.

Hyundai costs less because:
1. they own their own steel mills — huge amount of cost
2. they own their own shipping company
3. they build the robots that build everyone elses’ cars

add it up = good business

Q: 2007 Hyundai Sonata what do you pay for it?
I know Hyundai is offing a $ 2,000 rebate, how much more can I expect get off?

A: Some of the final price will depend on where you live. The price of cars is all supply and demand, and the Sonata sells better in some parts of the country than others (assuming you live in the USA).

You should not get a worse deal than invoice minus the rebate for the Sonata.
In the Chicago area, you could get it for about $500 under invoice plus the 2000 rebate (or 2500 under invoice).

I would suggest going to www.carsdirect.com and www.edmunds.com and get some quotes from dealers in your area emailed to you. Just make sure you are specific on the model you want and, if you can, ask for stock numbers so that they don’t pull the old ‘bait and switch’ when you get to the dealership.

Not sure if Jack (the answerer below) has ever gotten a good deal on a car, but the invoice price you and I see is not what the dealer actually paid for the car, so they will still make money.
A dealer will never take a loss on a car deal, and they will sell a car even if the sales person only makes $50. The dealer will still make money on the Sonata that you buy for $500 under invoice (plus the $2000 rebate) in Chicago.
Good luck.

Q: I have a question about a 2003 hyundai sonata?
Do you have to get the battery from hyundai or can you get it from a sears or an autozone?

A: you can get it from ne store, just tell them what kind of care u have n they can look up what battery u would need.

Q: 2006 Hyundai Sonata day time running lights?
Does the 2006 or 2007 Hyundai Sonata come with day time running lights? Thank you.

A: yes only canadian model

Q: What’s wrong with my 2004 Hyundai Sonata’s break lights?
My 20404 Hyundai Sonata break lights do not turn on when I turn my lights on yet they work when the breaks are applied. I have checked the fuses and even replaced the lights themselves. Any ideas?

A: It doesn’t make sense what u r saying!!! The lights suppose to turn on when You step on the brake pedal, not when lights are turned on. If they are not working at all (even when you’re pressing brake pedal) I would recommend you to take vehicle to dealer. There is a Recall related to brake switch, causing brake lights to fail if the switch is shorted out. I’m suspecting this is your problem. The cost of recall is nothing to you. All is covered by HMA (hyundai motor america).

If I don’t have your best answer, please give more details so that I can further assist you.

Q: My 89 Hyundai sonata wont kick over, any ideas what could be wrong?
One day my sonata just wouldnt start for some reason.
I’ve had a new coil and distributor put in but there is still no power going from the distributor.
It has power when I try and start the car but it wont kick over.

A: 89 Hyundai is the main problem all alone , Check Starter use screwdriver and do it from undeneath car, if no power check coil again you mighta got screwwed check with volt/ohm meter see if getting fire….my real advise get a different car

Q: Who knows anything about the stereo in a ‘99 Hyundai Sonata?
I have a 99 Sonata and I’m just wondering if anyone knows if the stock stereo that year will play mp3 cds?

A: NO! I have a newer car than you and it won’t… but why don’t you try it and find out, then you’ll know for sure.

Q: I f I have an 2004 Hyundai Sonata remote can it be program to a 2005 Hyundai Elantra if it has key less entry?
Also I had find this ad online for an 2005 Hyundai Elantra for 4,999 with 63,359 miles on it from a dealer is this a good deal and car?Why or why not?How much would you offer and what are common problems that go wrong with theses car?

A: I am pretty sure you can and you can go to or call a Hyundai dealership and ask them if it can be program to a ‘05 Hyundai Elantra

Q: What other year engines will work in a 95 Hyundai Sonata w/ a 2.0 DOHC motor with manual transmission?
I have a 95 Hyundai Sonata with a blown engine. I know that the 95-98 Sonatas are pretty much the same except I was told that only a 95 engine will work. Something about the engine being redesigned in 96. The engine is a 2.0 DOHC with manual transmission(if that matters)

A: I THINK ANY 2.0 MOTOR WILL WORK EXCEPT YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS . THAT’S NO BIG DEAL AND ITS CHEAPER THAN HAVE THE MOTOR REBUILT. (JUNK YARD HYUNDAI $175. – $500.00 FOR ONE

Q: What is the drive cycle for a 2001 Hyundai Sonata?
My Sonata is being “rejected” from Nevada emission testing. The test is not completing because the drive cycle is not completed. I have driven over 600 miles is the city so I need to know if there is a specific way to get the cycle completed. My registration expires soon!! help..

A: The following is a summary of generic OBD II
drive cycle instructions for a Hyundai:
• The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) should be
between 14 and 122 degrees F.
• Barometric pressure should be equal to or
greater than 75 kPa.
• The fuel tank should be between 25 and 75%
full at the start of the test.
•During acceleration, keep throttle 1⁄4 to 1⁄2 open.
• During deceleration, slow to less than 15 mph
at an engine speed of less than 1000 rpm without
touching the brake or clutch pedal.
• During cruise, maintain a steady engine speed
between 1400 and 4000 rpm.
• At idle speed, keep the throttle closed and the
gear selector in the Neutral position.
Remember, these are just the preliminary
instructions. The actual drive cycle must conform
exactly to the following instructions, or the
various monitors may not run to completion.
• The drive cycle begins with a cold engine
startup. The IAT must be between 32 and 85
degrees F. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)
must be less than 127 degrees F. It may be
necessary for the customer to leave the car with
you overnight so it can cool down completely.
The engine coolant and intake air temperatures
must be within a tight range to complete all of
the OBD II monitors during the drive cycle. If
the IAT input is not between 32 and 86 degrees
F at the beginning of the drive cycle, the EVAP
monitor will not run.
• Start the engine and allow it to idle in Park for
one to two minutes.
•Within the first minute and a half, accelerate at
1⁄4 to 3⁄4 throttle to 50-55 mph. Hold that speed for
2-3 minutes. Unless your shop is very close to a
major expressway, it may be difficult to satisfy this
step in the drive cycle.
•Decelerate to 0 mph without braking, then idle
for 1-2 minutes. If you’re on an expressway, pull
safely off the road during this segment.
• Accelerate to 55 mph, using 1⁄4 to 3⁄4 throttle,
then hold a steady cruise for 10 to 20 minutes.
• Return to 0 mph with the engine idling in Park,
then turn the ignition off.
