Q: Is it possible to get a detachable cd player installed in my 2004 Chevrolet Malibu LS?
Right now I have a factory CD player, which is broken and will not accept Cds 
.
So I have decided to buy a new cd player, detachable, with an MP3 input.
…..Just wondering if it is possibly possible to actually install a different Stereo in my 2004 Chevrolet Malibu LS. Or should I just replace my factory stereo?? HMM… Someone please help! Taking opinions.
A: Try calling your local auto parts store to make sure but I think that you can install a removable faceplate CD player in any vehicle. Another good way to find out is go to your local Walmart auto department and look at the stereo installation kits they have different style mounting brackets for almost all makes models and years

Q: I want to restore my 1967 Chevrolet malibu wagon?
i have a 1967 chevrolet malibu station wagon in my garage right now. it was my grandpas then my fathers now mine… it does not start or run at all. it sat outside under a tarp for about 12years… so as you can imagine its in not great condition. i know nothing about repairing or restoring cars at all… i know its a 283… thats about it. anybody know how i would go about learning to restore this. im 17 and a junior in highschool?
A: 1.Buy a book. The small block chevy has more written about it than the JFK assasination.
A basic Chiltons Manual or repair manual is a good place to start.
2.Take a class. Some community colleges offer weekend or night classes right up your alley.
3. PowerblockTV.com, watch it on TV, check the web site.
Hope you have a “parts getter” car. Its a drag to try to drive and work on a car at the same time.

Q: Where can I complain about problems I am having with my 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
I have had a couple of problems with my Chevrolet Malibu that I just bought three weeks ago. I took it to the dealer and they “weren’t covered under my warranty” because they were more expensive than my dealer wanted to pay. But I have heard many people who drive the same car with the same problems. Does anyone know where I can go to complain about the issue I am having and maybe Chevrolet will do something about it?

Q: Fuel guage problem on a 98 Chevrolet Malibu?
I am an ASE certified mechanic. I relaced the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets in a 98 Chevrolet Malibu, with a 3.1.
We all know these had a problem from the get go. After replacing the gaskets, the fuel guage went all the way around
and pegged at the BOTTOM side of the stop. Any ideas what
caused this, and how to fix? I haven’t had a guage act like this before!
A: All gauges are in a balance circuit, variation coming from resistance in the sender. Older units required a single wire with the resistor in the tank as balance. Open circuit and the gauge pegs and might burn out from excessive voltage.
Another circuit will balance only one coil in the gauge.
I would say you have cut off a wire, or broken a plug @ the firewall. Probably putting too much weight on it while working on the engine.
When you find the problem you will probably need to replace the dash gauge too.

Q: Anyone know much about the Chevrolet Malibu?
Are they good cars? Dependable? I am in the market for a used car and the Malibu seems to get good reliability ratings (at least the 2002 model does) Anyone know anything about these cars?
A: For the most part I will go with Andy on this. If you get this car and the lower intake is leaking, I would replace it and then flush the coolant and install regular green anti-freeze. Dex-cool is junk and the only reason that GM still uses it is because if they say it is junk, they will lose a lot of money from lawsuits for having to replace it and reimburse people for the damaged parts.
Q: Is the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu a car you’d consider?
I really like the new re-designed look. I personally didn’t really care for the Malibu generation’s before this. My Aunt has one and I found the seats to be very uncomfortable, atleast the back seats anyway. What is your opinion of this car?
A: I think it’s a great looking car. Haven’t been in one yet to tell you about the rest of the package.

In 1998 the Malibu and Cutlass were the same car (with slight differences, like different color tail lights), does the Malibu tail light assembly fit in the Cutlass?
A: Yes, they should fit since the cars are practically identical. I believe that there are lines on the Oldsmobile tail lights though and that is the only difference. The Cutlass “supreme” was last produced in 1996 and those will definitely not fit a Malibu.
Q: How to turn off the headlamps on my chevrolet malibu 1999?
I’ve been trying to turn them off without succes at all,,,,I turn the thing to where it says off and they still stay on,,,,what could I do?
A: they automatically come on when you crank the car, but if you want to turn them off while you are parked or something, just slightly raise your emergency brake just a little and they will go off.
Q: Why is my 2001 Chevrolet Malibu getting terrible gas mileage?
The car has just under 70000 miles and all of a sudden I have been getting only 150 miles per tank which is about half of what I was normally getting. I have done all the basic maintenance on it. Plugs, Wires, Air filter, fuel filter have all been replaced. There is no codes on the computer readout either. Any help here would be great.
A: Temperature gage should read normal after first few minutes of driving,and does not come down when car is moving fast.
If not so,thermostat is bad,when computer sees engine is below operating temperature,it keeps putting more fuel in engine.

i’m looking into buying a 1999 chevy malibu. it’s very well maintenenced and kept up with. very clean and hasn’t ever been in an accident. although, the mileage on it is 129,000, or so. does anybody know if this car will even last me much longer?
A: How long a car lasts depends on two major factors; the initial quality of the vehicle and regular maintaince.
You are ahead of the game in that you mention that the car has been well maintained. Continue a regular routine of preventive maintenance, oil & filter changes, fuel filter and transmission fluid changes, etc.
The 1999 Malibu had good reports for initial vehicle quality and reliability. So this is also a plus.
If maintained as suggested, you should be able to get more than 200,000 miles out of this car.

I am researching cars for my daughter and we both like and have come to an agreement on a Chrysler Sebring, and a Chevrolet Malibu, we are going to buy a used car, so i do not yet know the year of the car. so all i would like is the general review of the cars. not by year. just the car in general. and or a website where the reviews are.
A: The Chrysler Sebring is rated “much worse than average” by Consumer Reports for reliability. The Malibu is rated “better than average” for reliability.
The Malibu is by leaps and bounds a far superior car. Don’t even consider the Chysler product.
Whatever you buy, be sure to take it to an independent mechanic for an inspection. You don’t want to buy a car that has problems.

Q: Is it possible to change the instrument cluster in a Chevrolet Malibu?
I need to change my cluster as my other one is dead, i see some in the US and Canada on ebay but they are in miles.. though one is in KM but is too high and doesnt reflect my vehicle.
Is it possible to change the cluster myself if I buy one on ebay, do I have to reprogram anything?

The cluster / instrument panel is digital.
A: wht year malibu? you can change them but i believe if it is a newer vehicle you need a tech II scanner to get the right mileage on the used/new one.

6×9’s in the back i would reccomend 2 300 watt 3-way pioneers 6×9’s for the back that’s best upgrade, but if you havent upgraded your head unit its often better you do that first because if your looking for better clarity you always start out with a newer head unit…
