Q: How much should it cost to get a master brake cylinder replaced in a 96 Honda Accord?
Just looking for a ballpark range in what is reasonable for parts and labor. It is a 1996 Honda Accord EX sedan, 4-cylinder, ABS.

Does something like this need to be done at the dealer or any repair shop?

Also, is there any other maintenance that can/should be done simultaneously? Like hoses or pads?

A: The master cylinder should cost between $100-$125. Labor is charged by the hour depending on the shop. I could do this in about 2 hours. It does not have to be done by the dealer – it is a fairly simple job. It does not entail any hoses or belts, but they should replace the brake fluid. Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years because it is very hydrophilic – it attracts water like crazy. People don’t understand that after 2 years water WILL find it’s way into the brake fluid. And brake fluid gets hotter than 212 degrees – so steam bubble appear. And the steam is compressable so the brakes get mushy.

Q: Is it worth buying an exhaust kit for Honda Accord?
I want to buy one for Honda Accord V6. Should I get Borla, flowmaster, or magnaflow or any other kit for less than $900. I want to make my car sound very loud. What about glasspacks? Do they last long?

A: Namaste.
I have an 03 Accord v6 with a Greddy Evo2 exhaust system on it..and its awsome!! You’ll love the sound. Its not too loud like a rice rocket, and sound like a G35. It’s the loudest at 3-4 rpms, and at that range it will set off alarms in a parking garage, other than that its great!

Personally Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow is not my taste…it’s too american and not really for imports…now that’s my personal opinion. I also put in an AEM V2 intake the same day I bolted on the exhaust. Those two combo works great, imediate horsepower and torque. Not to mention I’m getting 30more miles per full tank.

I don’t know what else you have done to your car, but dont be a cheap Desi and just get the exhaust for the sound..or to look cool. the intake and headers as well. I don’t know how many people who have answered before me actually own a v6 accord..let alone have any epxerience at moding one…so think twice on their advice bro.

Also, I hope you not doing this just for sound, and sound only!! Then your just a poser, and i’ll be the first to laugh. If you want pure performance, then you take out the catalyc converter and resonator…and do a straight piping from your headers..all the way back to the rear. You’ll get ticketed right away, cuz its illegal and you wont pass smog test. It’s VERY loud..but it will be pure power. Also dont get some cheap load exhaust..thats all sound and no go….lame….

good luck

Q: Where can I get the code for a honda accord anti theft stereo for my daughters car?
I purchased this Honda Accord Ex for my daughters first car about a month ago. The car is 10 years old and I just put a new battery in it.After I installed the new battery it reset the car stereo. It now asks for a code to enter to make the stereo work again. The car does not have the codes anywhere with the car and I called a dealer, they told me I had to take the stereo out ! Common! Any help here?

A: I have a Honda Del Sol. When I bought the car I had the same issue, guess what I called the dealer and they were able to get me a code! I have no idea why your dealer told you this. My dealer contacted Honda and gave the serial number of the car and some info off the stero, they were able to supply a code to the dealer and yes it worked. I have since changed the batterey and the code has always worked! If you have a HONDA stock stero Honda does have the code on file I would contact the Honda headquaters ( I have always done this and they have been super helpful). Each code for Honda steros is different and from what I understand there is no universal code. However depending on the type of stero, they might be able to re-program it. Here is the Honda website:
www.honda.com

Silly question you did contact a Honda dealer right? I know but, if you bought it used it could be from anywhere and I found that the Honda dealer is the one with the answers. I did not mean to insult you just a simple question. I will let you know that I have the 6 CD changer/Radio from Honda and they are no longer making them or the parts needed so, if more goes wrong with the stereo you might just want to have a place like Best Buy ect… install a new cheap one.
If you do get a code there is some important stuff to remember, if you type the code incorrectly 3 times you must RUN the car for a 1/2 hour before you can press the code again. Understand the car must run, no running no second chance. Second you have to press the keys hard and wait for the beep after each one. The book does not tell you this I had to contact Honda and learned the hard way.
Good Luck I hope this helps you!

Q: Where are the fuel filters on a 1989 Honda Accord LXI?
I need to know where the fuel filters are on a 1989 Honda Accord LXI. I borrowed a manual from the library but it only shows where they are on carbureted versions of the car. My car is fuel-injected. I know that the front filter is in the engine compartment (I can actually see it). Where is the rear one?

A: inside the gas tank. if you don’t no what you are doing let the shop do this.

Q: How do I replace the license plate lights of a 1999 Honda Accord?
I need some instructions as to how I should do replace the license plate lights of a 1999 Honda Accord Sedan.

A: license plate is very easy, just pops out with screwdriver from left or right side, just dont do it too forcefully, but all it is is clips on the inside of the plastic

Q: Where can I buy paint for my 1996 Honda accord?
I presently own a 1996 Honda accord. The paint on my vehicle is fading and there are scratches all over it. Clearly a few touch-ups would do the car some good, however, I cannot find an automotive store that sells the right paint.

I was wondering if there were any online stores that would let me specially order paint for my vehicle?

A: Sounds to me a GOOD buff job MAY do the trick…failing that take the vin number and go to the auto paint shop in your area and get them to mix up some base coat paint and get some clear coat as well . But a word of caution if you haven’t done this before ….pay someone to do it . It’s NOT as easy as you may think !

Q: Do I need special tool to change oil filter for 94 honda accord ex?
I’ve changed oil years ago for a different car but never on my honda accord. Oil part is easy, but after reading the owner’s manuel saying to use a special tool to remove oil filter, I wasn’t sure if I could do it by bare hand. Anybody?

A: There is a speacial tool, shouldnt be more than 10 bucks at your local parts store that will allow you to remove an oil filter from any car. However, i find that many times im able to twist off the filter by hand on most cars.

Q: What is the best way to add bass to my factory honda accord radio?
I want to add bass to my factory honda accord radio. is it better to go with a powered sub(like a bazooka) or a separate amp with sub? i dont need alot of bass, maybe just a 8″ sub at the most.

i have honda accord hybrid 2005 and i was checked the spark plugs and i found a brown layer on the ceramic insulator is that an indication that i need to change the sparks ?

A: no. the brown layer is caused by the additives in the fuel and is nothing to worry about. the spark plugs on that car are good for 110,000 miles.

i have honda accord hybrid 2005 and i was checked the spark plugs and i found a brown layer on the ceramic insulator is that an indication that i need to change the sparks ?

A: The ceramic insulator should be white not brown. Did you measure the electrode gap with an inexpensive set of round spark plug gages? Denso has a new line of extra long life iridium plugs that are supposed to be good for 60,000 miles in your car. autopartswarehouse.com has them. The price may make you choke a little, @$17. and change but knowing that type of plug I’d go with it in a heartbeat.

Possibly, if you have over 50,000 miles on your car it would pay to have your fuel injection system professionally cleaned at your dealer or run a plastic can of 3M Total Fuel System Cleaner in your gas tank with no more than 14 gallons of fuel. Plan an extended hard long trip to gain the best benefit from this cleaner, NAPA and Carquest has this product.

Q: How to make a 2007 Honda Accord into a high performance car?
I currently have a 2007 Honda accord and since I’m new to the whole car upgrading I was wondering how to make it into a ” High Performance ” car. I would appreciate that your answers specific. Thanks
Sorry I put accord I ment to put civic instead

A: The basic performance upgrades (BPU) can help the performance: Cold air intake, headers, and catback exhaust. You can take it up a notch and install lightened pulleys. In addition to the BPU package, the lightened pulleys make quite a noticeable difference; the engine responds better because it has less rotating mass compared to the crank pulley.

Just a note, Honda’s high performance car is the NSX, some may add the S2000 and possibly the Integra Type-R.

A: Requires a special tool to push the CV shaft out of the rotor, some can be very tight, however, I have witnessed the use of a piece of wood to knock it through.
