Q: Question for Girls: do you think the Subaru Sti is a prick car?
Girls, do u think the subaru STi is a car mainly driven by jerks? do u think the hatchback is cute?
A: It’ll go big with the asian teenie boppers.
Q: What is the future of the Subaru STI?
The new STI’s are hatchback and I hate that, what are they planning on doing with the next generation STI’s, does anyone know? I heard that they came out with an automatic version, but I want an auto STI thats a coupe.
The last year of the sedan was the best looking car IMO, an automatic that looked like those would be sick. I think hatchbacks look terrible
A: The ’11’s will come in both the hatch and sedan design. The sedan will likely be sold in slightly smaller numbers because it’s not really easy to know how they will sell. You may not like the hatch but the STI and WRX’s both have sold in great numbers since going hatch so the future is bright for the model. In this economy, Subaru is about the only manufacturer that has been reporting record sales through the last couple years thanks to the new Impreza models and the new Forester. So you are in the minority and maybe just need to find something else you like.
Q: Did the USDM 2005 Subaru STI come with daytime running lights?
If so is there common way that people often use to disable them? I’m buying a 05 USDM STI and bringing it to Canada where we need DRL by law, it doesn’t have DRL but maybe they were disabled somehow by the previous owner.
A: Yes they had them for sure and It makes me wonder why people disabe a safety feature on a car. It’s proven to make your car more visible to others and avoid collisions. Anyway the way if I remember right you have to remove the glove box and behind you’ll find the plug disconnected. It should be white. If everything there is connected then sorry but I can’t help. That is the insturctions I remember reading in the subaru forums though. Good lick.
Q: what is a good website or location to buy pre-owned subaru sti’s?
I’m having trouble finding a website and a car dealer or something to buy my subaru sti(05-07)…please help!
A: Try Autotrader.com / Cars.com / Craigslist…..all the normal Used Car sites….and any Dealer near you who looks like they may want what you have.
I know if you lived close to our store, I would at least want to see it and give you an Honest offer on it to have to sell….
Chris
Q: What turbo upgrade for a 2004 subaru sti will let me break into the 600-700 hp range or higher?
I have shop experince in chassis, engine repair, drivetrain, hopefully enough to pull it off.
A: Fully built motor/trans/clutch, upgraded axels. upgrade brakes. and a turbonettics GT-K turbo or a really big Garrett. Like a 40R or 42R. Go to www.turbobygarrett.com to look up all their turbos available. as well as www.turbonetics.com to see their full list of turbos.
Q: Is there such a thing as a AUTOMATIC Subaru WRX sti?
I ask because I love the look and specs of the Subaru WRX sti but I cant drive a manual. I can learn but other people in my family are gonna be using it too and they are not going to learn to drive a manual.
A: No automatic STI yet, but you can get an auto WRX
Q: Why is the 08/09 Subaru Sti only available in hatch configuration?
I mean they have a pretty good looking Wrx sedan why not make a sedan sti?
A: They had to decide on one or the other and went with the hatch for the WRC. It wouldn’t have made sense to spend the money making two models when they sell so few to begin with. There are many haters of the new model but in actuality they are far superior to the previous models. They have dual AVCS for much better spool, I Drive system, and much better suspension geometry especially in the back. If you are under steering, you just don’t know how to rive it. And you get all that for a $1500 base price increase. And with all the haters out there, the new Impreza is selling in record numbers since it’s release and Subaru is one of the only companies that sold more cars in 07 than 08 so they can’t be too bad. All I know is, I had an 02 and 05 WRX sedan and now an 06 wagon. I love having everything the sedan gas but with more room on the trunk.
Q: which car is better a mitsubishi lancer evolution or a subaru STI?
i would like to kno which one is better and which one will last longer. ppl are always comparing toyotas and hondas, what about the subaru STI or the mitsubishi EVo or maybe the Mazdaspeed6. which one is better and why? i would like to kno how good the engines are compared to the hondas and toyotas, and how long will they last, will it be the same as a honda or a toyota?
A: all pretty good. Stay away from the mitsubishi. crappy engine seals. athey always leak oil after 40K or so.
Q: What is the stock color temperature in a Subaru Sti or evolution HID kit?
I want to intall a HID kit in my car like my friends evolution ix?
But I don’t know what color temperature they have?
A: Most factory HID’s are between 4500k and 5000k
Q: Why don’t they offer the Subaru WRX STI Coupe with the highest end engine?
I was looking at getting a Subaru WRX STI, but I don’t like the hatchback. The only way I can get the highest horsepower is with the hatch… Are they going to offer the highest end engine in the coupe any time soon?
The hatch to me just looks like a sporty Ford Focus or Taurus station wagon. I don’t have anything against hatches, I currently have a 2009 Volkswagen GTI. Thanks for the help!
A: mostly because subaru hates us. they ALWAYS do this.
for example
STi was avalible in europe in 1992, 12 years prior to the US release.
and then we didnt even get the prodrive ,PPP, P1, mcrae versions or ANY special editon STIs
in 1994 USA saw the last Turbocharged legacy for 11 years. meanwhile in europe they, not only had turbos, they had twin turbos. we didnt get a turbo legacy till 2005.
they also got the third generation legacys a year prior to us.
and there is no turbo 3.7L 430HP Legacy STi for the usa.. no thats a European thing.
and the diesel boxer? subaru released it in europe in 2008 but did we get one? no subaru says no and then changed there mind and said ok we’ll let you have it.. in 2 more years.
dont get me wrong i LOVE subaru. but they drive me insane with this crap that they do.
I can handle the stis and the turbos but WHY CANT WE HAVE THE 53MPG DIESEL????????
damn you subaru! why do you hate us?!?! ARRRGGGGGG!!
Q: Subaru WRX STI safe to drive with regular grade gas?
I just got a WRX STI and the dealer filled the tank up with regular gas instead of the required premium grade fuel. Is it safe to drive the car till I use it up and get the right gas in it. Got the car from a carfax dealer not subaru.
A: Use a little, top up, use a little more, top up again. I doubt if it was totally empty when he filled it up, so you have a dilute solution, and topping it up every 100 miles will gradually bring it back to what it should be. Just don’t floor it or drive over the limit on the highway until the gas is changed.
Q: Is a 2005 subaru sti with 89 thousand miles good?
I drive less than 2 thousand miles a year. Its 15,500 and has a clean title.
A: Ive had 3 impreza’s, all covering well over 100,000 miles, My first was a 1994 2.0 turbo which I bought with 99,000 already on it, I did 80,000 miles in it and sold it to a friend who still has it (now at 225k) and its never had a replacement engine!
It really depends how well the car has been cared for. Look for full main dealership service history, make sure the tyres are wearing evenly and that there’s no knocking noise when the engine is started from cold. The brakes and suspension are expensive to replace so it would be worth getting them professionally checked prior to purchasing the car.
Good luck with your new car if you decide to get it.
Q: How many miles ned to be put on a 2007 subaru sti until the motor is broken in well enough?
How many miles on average are good to break the motor in well enough before I can hit it or install performance parts on it?
A: they say on average 1000 miles for any car. A break in period is actually more for the drive train, which is why they say not to go over 50 or 60 mph and they don’t really limit the rpm
Q: Evo 8 vs Civic si vs Subaru WRX STI which ones is the best?
Okay to make things easier on the question an Evo 8, A new Civic si, and a Subaru Impreza WRX STI ‘05, the prices range for the Evo 8 (stock) and the Subaru (stock) are from 23K – 25k and the Civic Si 07 (stock) is around 21k – 22k.
My questions are:
Which one would you buy and why.
Which one is easier to fit with aftermarket parts.
Which one, in your opinion, would win a race if they were pinned against each other.
Last question is between the Evo 8 and the Subaru, which one would you choose? (Neglect Price)
Lol my bad. Ok if the Civic, Evo, and the WRX were fully tuned.
A: Well first off like the guy before me said. Your comparing apples and oranges here but im not gonna be anal so here it is. If u want the car for the performance go for the evo because specific bolt ons for the evo can raise the HP by like 5-10 and thats quite a lot. But if u want to go luxury wise and what not go for the STI because its a good all round car but it doesnt pack as much oooomph as the evo. As for the civic itll work really well as long as u buy the right one because the stock 07 civic SI comes with a k20 engine that is 200 hp with 144 tq and it responds really well to bolt ons meaning that u can add so intake, exhaust and header mods and lighten the car chassis enough by taking things out like ur AC and the interior equipment and it will be as fast as the evo and STI but it depends if ur willing to go that extra mile to do all that to the civic but anyways my choice would be the evo because u get more power out of the box and it can kick some serious ass. and if u dont think the evos 300 hp is enough go get a turbo and boost the crap out of it. Well thats my opinion but u can do whatever u want to whichever car that ur thinking of buying.
HEY KID BELOW ME> IT DOESNT SEEM LIKE U KNOW A LOT ABOUT HONDA’S HP RATING AND POWER TO WEIGHT RATIOS BUDDY SO DONT TALK IF U DONT KNOW
Q: Why do websites make subaru sti’s seem slow?
I’ve seen a couple websites that write that the subaru impreza wrx sti of 2001-2010 has 220, 230, 240, 250, and once even 210 HorsePower? I thought Sti’s had at least 276 Hps, can somebody explain?
A: If you are referring to tuning shops, they are likely showing the power to the wheels after measuring with a dynomometer. It’s a device that uses rollers to measure how much power the wheels turn them with. The manufacturer measures the power of the engine before it is assembled into the car. Once in the car, the engine has to turn the flywheel to the clutch, the tranny, axles and drive shaft, then the wheels which roll the car forward losing a little power each step of the way. Generally there is somewhere between 15 to 30% loss of power on an AWD car when measuring at the wheels. The numbers are just a tool for them to measure before and after increases when modifying. That’s also why you will see companies like K&N or other intake companies advertise their product make X amount of power and when these shops try to verify, they find it make considerably less.
